So through the Whitcolls Book, "The Young New Zealander's Guide to Entrepreneurship"
They've run this competition were you could win the chance to
spend the day with a top New Zealand business person. So I was lucky enough to win the day with
Rod Drury.
And the book's really great, it's about New Zealand entrepreneurs and quite a lot about the Young
Enterprise scheme in New Zealand. It's a really great book to read for any young
New Zealander.
I've had an amazing day. I've learned so much about Xero, and especially the scale
of things and
how much it's growing has been incredible. I'm sitting in on conference calls to
America. And have just learned about the whole scale of the business and where it is going
which has been really exciting for someone is looking at getting
involved in something like that in the future. I definitely think the innovation and
passion in Xero is
really really evident. They are all very passionate, and I really love that. It's
something I'd like to take away and
implement wherever I'm going or what I'm doing.
Rod is such a lovely guy, you wouldn't know he's the CEO of a massive
company. He just down to earth and passionate.
He knows all of the staff, y'know he has personal conversations and it's a really
nice relationship he has with his staff. And he is definitely y'know the type of person I would
aspire to be like. He's genuine and really interested in everyone. He clearly
has a lot of passion and drive for what he is doing
and that's really really inspiring especially for us young Kiwis coming
through.
