Hi, this is Dr. Susan Riegg from www.susanrieggmd.com.
Today I am on day 11
of my HCG diet. My starting weight was 187 pounds and this morning when I got on
the scale
I was at 180.8 pounds. As you probably recall, I'm six feet tall so
at this weight my BMI
is about 24.5.
I am down 6.2 pounds in 11 days which is great progress.
Fortunately I am no longer in the overweight category but I'm at the very
top
of the normal BMI. I'm
pleased with my progress and I'm going to keep going.
Yesterday I received an
email question from one of my patients,
Jessica. I'll read the email.
She said, "Hi Dr. Riegg. Im on day 14 of the
very low calorie diet, doing great, I've lost 10 pounds so far! this diet is
amazing!
Thank you so much! I have a quick question. I'm
absolutely bored out of my skull with the limited food choices.
I remember that you said that there were some cookbooks that were
HCG compliant. Can you tell me what they are?
Looking forward to hearing from you, Jessica." Jessica,
yes there are HCG
cookbooks out there and so I'm making this short video for you
and for other people who have this
question. Now
as a quick review what
HCG diet foods are.
I personally
as a physician guiding patients through the HCG diet
have a tendency to recommend that we stick to Dr. Simeons protocol as
closely as possible. So
what we are reviewing is,
the protein, vegetable,
the fruit, and again as
Dr. Simeons recommended the
grissini bread sick or melba toast. I have a tendency to
encourage patients to try and eliminate that because at the concern about wheat
Going to the top here we're looking at three and a half ounces or 100 grams
are these proteins. Then a
vegetable, there's thirteen allowed vegetables.
Then there were only four allowed
fruits. That is
what you eat for lunch and the same choices for dinner.
Unlimited quantities a tea, coffee, and water.
Dr. Simeon's had allowed
back in the forties, fifties, and sixties
the sweetener saccharine.
We obviously don't use that anymore. We're strongly recommending a stevia
sweetener
choice. It's a natural and wonderful sweetener. We're
encouraging patients to get off of aspartame.
If you look down here the juice of a lemon is allowed,
which is great for salad dressings, all the
powdered spices and obviously
no oil, butter, or dressing.
We're encouraging
abundant water consumption.
All of this we've been over before.
That's a review of what foods are allowed.
If you go onto Google and you search for
HCG diet cookbooks you're going to be very confused because
you're going to get 521,000 results. So how do you
sort of make your way through all of this? If you go to Amazon
and search for HCG diet cookbooks you get 75 results.
Now the best one, in my opinion, is the first one here which is
Tammy Skye's, "The HCG Diet Gourmet Cookbook."
I've looked at every HCG diet cookbook
out there and many of them are very good but Tammy Skye's is truly
a hundred percent Simeon's compliant and in my opinion is the most
creative
and the most useful for patients. She actually has
now a second volume, so this is the first volume
and is available in Spanish as well for our spanish-speaking patients.
This is her second volume and is not a duplicate of the first. There's actually
150
different recipes in the second volume.
This is a little screenshot
from the first volume saying, "This groundbreaking
gourmet cookbook offers flavorful alternatives to an otherwise boring diet"
which is true,
"All recipes are compatible with Dr. Simeons HCG diet protocol."
Now this is from the first volume and it shows sort of a summary of how
many recipes there are for each category
of food. This is from the second volume,
showing a detailed list of dressings, snacks, soups, salads
and then the chicken entrees, beef, seafood,
egg and cheese.
Cheese is not allowed so I have to take a closer look at that,
vegetables, desserts, and beverages.
So I just wanted to show you a few examples. This
is a wonderful chili recipe using ground beef.
Keep in mind you can also use ground chicken.
Again as you can see this is all
ingredients that are allowed on
the Simeons protocol. I strongly recommend for patients that
you make large quantities of this to last you a week or two.
Divide it up into three-and-a-half
ounce servings and get that into ziplock bags and freeze it
so that you have that prepared.
This is a great salad dressing recipe
using that apple cider vinegar and
stevia as the sweetener of choice of course
now this is this just a splendid
I'm little desert and this has something called
on flavor drops which are cappella flavor drops
I'm going to be talking a little bit more about that there are some
amazing in creative things you can do
while you're out HCG to really
get some flavorful foods and desserts and so on
with stevia and with cappella flavor drops
and I'll show you that in a moment
lemon ginger asparagus if you love asparagus you will
love summer these recipes florentine scramble now doctor Simeon's had allowed
one again three egg whites so this is
really very healthy absolutely delicious and again this is using some
cappella flavored wraps the top corner butter flavored wraps
this is Sinead chicken with spinach pesto
now arm chicken broth all the props are
wonderful and to use you can make soups or use them
in your I'm food preparation you just have to be very careful when you're
buying bras from the store that there's no added sugar and we've talked before
about the brakes liquid me knows it's a great choice it's
she a paltry and no added sugar
Thai beef salad is delicious I have made this a number of times
this also uses breaks liquid aminos
this is my all-time favorite salad the Krejci sweet Apple chicken salad
so it has the chicken apple and celery the one thing that's not
on here that I actually do is I put this on a theory
the ache bed I love salad greens including spinach in it really
box it up and fills you up if if you're hungry
and then you've got laminin you can put some your salad dressing on that as well
citrus fish delicious
and tomato basil chicken now I'm
okay this one doesn't use that to me us assistance yes
chopped tomato so that's good and again the chicken broth be careful that
there's no added sugar
the second cookbook that I have used to my patients have use
is actually published by the
makers at the Cappella flavored drops and it's called the ultimate exceed G
diet coke but now a little word of caution
um this can be very overwhelming
because these recipes for small there's five hundred recipes in this book
they're incredibly creative their wonderful
however some of them are not HCG compliant and initially some examples of
that so that's one morning
and secondly you can really get bogged down because there's I'm
there a little bit more complicated and they require
a sometimes one or two were
more cappella flavor drops plus flavored stevia is
now the Cappella drops you can find online their
wonderful these are concentrated flavors without sweetening
I believe there's 80 or more different flavors but
a.m. they're very concentrated flavors
and there's no calories no fat no sugar
no gluten no. sweetening
so you can control your flavoring in your sweetening
independent of each other
separate from that is a sweetleaf stevia company so these are
flavors plus weakening together these are really handy for
sweetening your coffee thirty-year carbonated water
a lot of my patients use the sweeten their coffee
their tea their company to water I'm
there's things like home
vanilla cream and things like that so I'm
and they can be used in in cooking meals as well
in so let's just take a look at some other recipes from the recipe book
an now this particular recipe uses Frank's hot sauce I would caution you to
take a look at the label make sure there's no added sugar
an coconut itself is not
permitted by doctor Simeon's on this protocol but the coconut flavor
is a.m. brought in by the cat
cappella coconut flavored wraps and then we have some stevia
and so that would be civilians compliant
sweet and sour crab salad of course the crowd in the cabbage
this is allowed and Simeons protocol
am sweetleaf stevia Africa at nectars
is permitted that's perfectly fine fluency orange is fine
in the hot sauce may have added sugar see need to be careful there
the hearty beef stroganoff
beef round steak is fine this is now
so this has white mushrooms there's absolutely
no mushrooms allowed
or I should say I mean if you're going to eat them just understand that that
probably
would not give you as good of weight loss is if
I'm you went to the diet without the mushrooms because the russians are a
little bit
more Searcy and will not didn't give you
as a good athlete losses if you did it without
tomato sauce you're gonna have to be very careful that there's no
added sugar on if your niece meet us
size sweetleaf stevia great this perfectly fine
again the beef broth make sure there's no added sugar and almond milk is
not to be use when you're on the hcg this would be a great choice
and maintenance and beyond
at the world applewood bacon chicken fillet at first blush
I'm thinking bob bacon is definitely not allowed any CG but let's take a look
boneless chicken breast is fine chicken broth make sure there's no added sugar
all the bacon flavors brought in with a cappella sizzling bacon
flavored wraps so that's perfectly fine onion powder is fine
but lemme know so all of this is perfectly tryin so this is
looking like a very delicious recipe and completely
HCG compliant and popcorn chicken
we've got chicken broth again
clash in that there's no added sugar cappella butter flavor drops
boneless chicken is great no but oh so
this was permitted by doctor Simeon's again use with caution
cappella butter flavored wraps and poultry seasoning
with this I'm you might want to
a use missus stasis missus dasher seasonings have no
added sugar but some of the others the McCormicks is someone will have
added sugar so just be very careful about that if your neck CG
