I'm Bonaventure Bai and I'm a Franciscan priest.
I came originally from China. I am
10th generation of being Catholic in my family.
So I think that really gave me a lot of strength
and encouragement.
How I can carry on the faith which came from my
ancestors. You are living in a free country.
You do not know how people struggle,
are struggling, you know, for having a Mass,
for have a confession, to see a priest.
In so many places, in China too, it's very difficult to see a priest.
Sometimes I can't imagine in the history how many persecutions
we endured, yeah but, we still
come to the 21st century. My family
even my nephew, still carry on
this kind of faith. That's really
awesome, right! To be a Franciscan, I think,
in this, you know, modern time, I think they
really show the true value
and the virtue of the Gospel to the world.
We sometimes, we were talking about how the world became so
secularization you know and we are challenged by all those
material things. We want to enjoy all the things.
But the Franciscans want to have a very simple life.
Yeah, we want to tell the people we can live very meaningful
without the weight of so many luggages, baggages.
St. Francis, first of all he said, "Thank God
for giving me brothers." The brothers are
always kind of your
support, your resource, yeah, the place you can share your
joys, share your faith, share your struggles
or share your sadness, everything. I
gave up one family, but God gave me
a huge family
by living with brothers.
