Hi this is Yolanda Vanveen from Vanveenbulbs.com and in this series we're learning all about
how to identify spring blooming flower bulbs. We buy them in the fall we plant them and
they bloom in the spring, and we have no idea what the plant is, we don't know their name,
don't know anything about them. But I think that's one of the best parts about gardening
is the joy you get when you see everything in bloom. One of my favorite tulips of all
is a nagrita tulip. It's a beautiful, beautiful purple tulip that is just one of the highlights
of my yard. See I love nagrita because it's that bright purple and not too pink, I don't
like pastels, I like bright vivid colors, and it's so bright and vivid. And you can
barely tell on the side that they kind of have a green stripe, or a little bit of a
stripe that comes up, that even makes them more vivid when they're in bloom. And they
bloom for so long, these have been blooming for more than a month already and a little
bit before this I had a red tulip that's now done blooming, and they're blooming at the
same time and having the red and purple together I loved it. Cause it reminded me of college
days for Linfield College, go wildcats. When you are planting your yard, take that into
account. Plant to represent your past, plant your school colors together, plant your favorite
colors together, and plant everything you saw on your grandmother's yard. Because that
way when they do bloom you'll have even more memories to bring up and they'll be even more
special. Next we will go to one of my other favorite tulips that a lot of people know
about and that's Angelique.
