You know the topic of mold in mattresses and specifically the Sleep Number bed, is a frustrating one
for me, because we're so proud of our product and confident in its quality and safety that
it is frustrating when media and at times, lawyers, for their own benefit, are promoting
incomplete or at times, inaccurate information.
It's a disservice to the audience, it's a disservice to people out there who are in
need of a really great night sleep.
What I'd like for people to know about mold and mattresses and specifically the Sleep
Number bed is that the Sleep Number bed holds itself to a very high standard. Our product
is unique and it unzips at the top so that people can see the inside of our bed and so
we have to have a higher standard of design and quality and execution than any other mattress.
And we do.
Over the years, we have been the leader in using anti-microbial treatments to prevent
the growth of mold and mildew in our mattress. And a few years ago, adopted a state of the
art advanced anti-microbial treatment and since that point, to our knowledge, we've not
had any instances of mold growth in our mattresses. And for those who have older
beds and who, in those rare occasions do have an issue. Again, we stand behind our product
completely and have the unique ability to work with our customers to replace components
or parts to restore their product to just like new conditions.
This question about mold and mattresses, specifically the Sleep Number bed is an interesting one
in that our bed is actually favored by people who are concerned about allergies because
our bed is unique in that it can be unzipped, can be maintained on both the outside and
inside, vacuumed out - really kept in clean condition. Many of the experts that we worked
with to ensure that our bed is state of the art in preventing allergens or mold have actually
become bed owners - Sleep Number bed owners themselves.
If a customer has a question about mold or feels that they might have mold in their mattress,
we stand behind our product completely - they call our customer service number. Our trained
representatives will help them understand if in fact they do have mold or if it could
be just a stain of some other kind. And if they do have an issue, we'll work with them
to send them a replacement part so that they can restore their product to just like new
condition quickly.
