What's up guys!
Welcome back to TastySauces.com
I'm your host Billy D
and for today's barbecue tasting episode we are doing a little Texas vs. Oklahoma rivalry.
The first one we have up to the plate is Billy Sims Sweet and Smokey Barbecue Sauce
All you old timers, I am sure you recognize the name Billy SIms
was a real awesome running back for Oklahoma and won the Heisman trophy his Junior Year.
He had somewhat of a short pro career but that was because of a knee injury.
Definitely, I am sure all the OU folks recognize that name.
And then representing Texas, we got the Full Of Bull
Barbecue Sauce Company.
This is actually has its roots in East Texas but they are an Austin based company.
Now, let's take a little bit closer look at the sauces.
As far as the the Billy Sims BBQ Sauce, it is a ketchup based with some vinegar in there.
It looks fairly thin on the consistency.
They've got some brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce,
a little molasses,
some horseradish,
smoke flavoring
Let's go ahead and pour it on their to check it out.
Yes, it has a real nice, smoky smell right off the bat
just from the little sniff test.
This stuff is very, very thin so be careful when pouring it out the bottle.
Just like the name described it, it's sweet and smokey.
You get that initially sweetness taste that is followed by the nice little smokey flavor to finish.
That is pretty good stuff.
Hmm
Pretty smooth, nothing really overpowering but you do get the nice elements of each flavor
I will give this one 4 out of 5 on my 5 star rating
and then as far as
the heat level, it is really mild, I would give it a 1
on the 1 to 10 heat scale.
pretty good stuff
Now, let's go see what this Full Of Bull has to offer.
Now, as far as the ingredients, ketchup,
definitely see some vinegar. It's pretty runny. They got some corn syrup,
pepper, brown sugar,
they got some cayenne pepper, sugar, spices
and a whole bunch of other stuff on there too much for me to read.
Ok, you can definitely smell the heat from all the peppers they used in here.
It is not getting that much smoke flavoring but we will see how it tastes.
this is a little bit
a little bit chunky, you can see little bits of peppers in there
It has got an interesting taste.
It has got that rich bbq but then you can definitely taste the peppers in there
Not bad and the peppers aren't like super spicy you just kind of get the flavor in there but
As far as overall rating,
this one did not knock my socks off but the spices are kind of nice in their
I would give it 3.5 on my 5 star rating.
Then, as far as the spicy scale it's not really spicy so I would probably
give it a 2 on
the heat level scale of 1 to 10.
Definitely if you guys have tried either of these out, let me know what you guys think
and I can't wait to talk to you guys later.
