Department of Homeland Security, and thousands of homeowners nationwide.
With SafeMart and LiveWatch you get professional grade Alarm-Monitoring
from the nation's largest independent Monitoring Company
for as little as $9.95 per month.
In this video, we are going to show you how to add a Z-Wave Lamp Device to
your security system so that you can control your lights remotely.
Z-Wave is a term that describes a type of communication used within
home automation.
You can have virtually an unlimited number of Z-Wave devices within your
system and they don't take up any of your 40 wireless sensor zones.
There are two types of Z-Wave lamp modules: incandescent and fluorescent.
In order to ___
his an access is Z-Wave device YOU must
be subscribed to our LiveWatch Complete Service
have a Simon XT control panel with an orange EmPower antenna inside
and have a compatible Z-Wave lamp module.
These devices can easily be found online at
www.SafeMart.com
Simply search: "Z-Wave" in the search-bar.
The range for each Z-Wave device is approximately 50 feet per device.
It is not the best range for a wireless device but the good news is that each
device carries on the signals of the other devices within the system.
So for example,
if you have 4 Z-Wave Devices and they are each 50 feet apart going away
from the panel,
the 4th device can be 200 feet away from the panel and still be
communicating effectively.
If you have an activated account with LiveWatch Security and are subscribed
to the LiveWatch Complete Service, you're ready to get started.
To add each device should take less than 5 minutes.
To begin, plug the device into an outlet as close to the panel as possible;
6 feet or so is recommended.
Scroll down 4 times on the panel to "System Programming".
Press "okay".
Enter: 4, 3, 2, 1
or your own Installer Code. Scroll up once to "Interactive Services".
Press "okay".
Scroll down once to "Z-Wave Setup".
Press "okay".
Scroll down to "Add Z-Wave Device".
Press "okay".
The screen may read "Z-Wave Busy, Try again in 20 seconds."
To clear this error, exit Programming by pressing "Status" several times.
Wait a few minutes and then re-enter System Programming.
This error happens when you try to send a Z-Wave command over the cellular
network without giving it time to go through before sending another
Z-Wave command.
The first message jams the second message as it passes through the connection.
Once you enter the "Add Z-Wave Device" section of Programming,
the screen will read:
"Press Button on Device to Add".
With the Z-Wave Lamp Device still plugged in, press the central
"Mate Button" several times.
The panel will chime and read that a device has been added.
Wait several minutes for the device to sync.
As you go through adding each device, it's highly recommended to write down
in a safe place the device number that is displayed,
with the description of where the device will be placed in your home.
For example, "Device 4"
"Living Room Lamp"
"South Wall"
"East Socket".
To add another device press Status and then select "Add Z-Wave Device" again.
Once you have added all the lamp modules, you have to test your system.
Press the Status button 4 times to exit System Programming.
We're now going to test and make sure that everything has been added properly.
There are 2 sides to your lamp module:
one side is a power outlet for simple power,
the other side is the controllable Z-Wave outlet.
After making sure that your lamp works with regular power,
plug your lamp module into the lamp and then plug your lamp into the Z-Wave side of
the module.
Make sure you lamp is in the "on" position.
Turn your light on by pressing the "Lights" button on your keychain remote or within
your smartphone app.
The lights will turn on.
If they do not turn on still,
here a few comments solutions.
Unplug the lamp.
Go back to your panel.
We will go back through System Programming again to remove this device
and then re-add it.
To remove it, go to "Z-Wave Setup"
and then to "Remove Z-Wave Device".
Press "okay".
The screen will prompt you to press the button on which device you would like to remove.
With it still plugged into your wall, press the central button several times until
the panel chimes.
The screen will notify you that the device was removed.
Press "Status".
Scroll to "Add New Device",
and then press "okay".
Press the Mate button twice and listen for a chime from the panel.
Plug your lamp back into the Z-Wave side of the device.
Wait a few minutes for your device to sync.
When adding devices, the system will not use the same device number more than once.
For example, if you delete "Device 4" the next device will be
"Device 5" or the next position open.
Once it is deleted, "Device 4" will not be used again.
There is no limit to the number of devices used.
To turn the lights on from the panel press the "Star Key" on the bottom left
twice.
To turn them off press the "Pound Key" on the bottom right twice.
If the light does not seem to turn on after a few seconds and you have made
sure that it's in the "on" position,
and the power outlet is working,
look close at the lamps' bulb.
It sometimes happens that the device comes at the lowest dimmer setting.
If the lamp barely seems to be on, press and hold the central button on the device to
make it brighter.
Press and hold it again to dim the light.
This is the manual way is to set the Dimmer Level of your "Z-Wave Lamp
Device".
Another way to turn your lights on is remotely through your LiveWatch Account.
Go to www.SafeMart.com and click on "LiveWatch Login" at the top of
the page. Log into your LiveWatch Account. Click on the EmPower Tab.
Click on "Lights".
Choose which light you want to turn, or choose "All" under the yellow light.
Choose the percentage that you want the dimmer to work, and then click "Set".
A green line of text appears at the top of the page letting you know that your command has been sent.
You now know how to properly add a Z-Wave Lamp Device into your security system.
