What are you going to cook for us today? Senaga Pappu Rice Pongali, which is offered to the deities.
Ingredients required for Senaga Pappu Rice Pongali
Raw Bengal Gram, Rice, Jaggery, Raw Coconut, Cashew Nuts, Raisins, Cardamom Powder, Cow Ghee & Ghee
First boil one cup of rice with half cup of bengal gram & keep it aside
Boil half glass of water in a vessel and add two cups of jaggery in it
Now let the jaggery cook for a while until it turns into a syrup
Now add the boiled rice and bengal gram mix into the jaggery syrup & mix them well
Now heat some ghee in a pan
Add some sliced raw coconut pieces into the pan & let them fry until they are golden brown in colour
Now take the fried coconut pieces into a bowl & keep them aside
Now fry some cashew nuts in the pan & keep them aside
Fry some raisins in the pan
Now add the fried coconut pieces and cashew nuts into the jaggery rice mix
Add one spoon of cow ghee into the jaggery rice mix
Add two spoons of cardamom powder into the pan & mix them well
Now add the fried raisins with ghee into the pan & mix them well
Add some ghee into the pan
Take the Senaga Pappu Rice Pongali into a serving bowl
Top the dish with some fried cashew nuts
