Hi, this is Miranda Thacker with your KYTC Minute. During this time of year, motorists
are spending more time driving in the dark and in weather conditions with limited visibility.
They’re also encountering others who are driving without headlights. As the dark days
of winter roll on, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet encourages drivers to make their vehicles
more visible. By state law, drivers are required to have their vehicle’s headlights on 30
minutes before sunset and 30 minutes after sunrise. But it’s also common sense that
headlights should be used anytime visibility is low or in adverse weather conditions. Headlights
enhance your vision as a driver. But just as importantly, they allow your vehicle to
be seen by other drivers. Improving vehicle visibility is a common sense way to reduce
the danger of crashes on Kentucky’s roads. This has been your KYTC Minute. Visit transportation.ky.gov
every Thursday for updated information.
