On a drain repair, there are many different things that can go wrong from
as little as a leaky P-trap under a sink that's a very minor issue that can
be resolved quickly to a drain line that completely rots out and has to be
replaced in a wall or in a crawl space. What we would do typically is go
into a home or a building and do diagnostic work first to determine where
the leak is coming from and what system it's actually coming out of in an
area that we can narrow it down to where the leak is coming from.
Then, from that point we can either open up a wall, a floor, or a ceiling
to get to the actual spot and make the repair. Most of the time we can make
a repair just from a small surgical hole that needs to be cut if it's in a
wall. There are times, though, in an older building or an older home where
the line is completely rotted out and we would have to replace the whole
line from a fixture all the way down to a main drain, or a different
section, or a different tie in.
It's a huge variable from just a few minutes repair to a major repair. Most
of the time, though, it can be resolved very quickly.
