JOEL SIEGEL: All right. So the second grip that we're going to learn today is called
the German Grip. And this is kind of the opposite of the French Grip. The French Grip can get
kinda long legato strokes and with the German Grip you're going to get kind of a lot more
attack; it's a lot more harsh and a lot more powerful. You got to be holding the stick
to where your wrist here is going to pretty much parallel with the ground, all right?
And this is going to be a lot of wrist movement and a little bit of fingers. You're always
going to have a combination of the two, but for German, it's going to be a lot of wrists.
And to get the sound, that's the motion. So your German Grip is going to sound like this.
