Hey guys, my name is Tim Schmoyer and for this week's
YouTube advice I want to show you guys how you can build more
exposure and get more engagement to some of your older videos. Now
the way this works is think about it this way. You've been
making content, let's say, for a year and you've gotten the bulk
of your YouTube subscribers probably in the past six months. Now
that means that the majority of those new subscribers have not
seen any of your videos most likely previous to when they
subscribed. You have, like, 30, 40 videos from before they
subscribed that you would like to re-highlight and reintroduce to
some of your newer subscribers, but how do you get some of your
new subscribers to see some of your older content without
spamming them or something? Well, there's a thing that I think
that is way underutilized here on YouTube and it's called your
YouTube feed. And the way it works is if you go to your YouTube
channel and you click here under, "Browse Videos," you will see this
tab right here called, "Feed." Now if you go to your YouTube
homepage a lot of people browse you'll see this feed were, you
know, it's recommended and there's also other people who are
commenting here, so you can actually post a video here that won't
show up in their subscription box but it'll show up in their
feed, so the way you do this. Let's go back to my channel and
you go to, "Browse videos," and this is where you're going to post
something to your feed, so let's say for example I go over here
in the ReelSEO channel. I recently did this collaboration about
how to do annotations and tips and tricks for annotations and I
haven't posted that yet on my personal channel over here, so I've
just copied the URL. We go over here and I'm going to create a
new post. I'm just going to paste the URL right in here or you
can do a playlist as well, you know, depending on what you want
to do, and I'm just going to write something like, "If you haven't
seen my collab with vidiSEO giving practical examples for using
YouTube annotations, check it out here. I hope it's helpful." Put
the link there and I'll post that to my feed. Now that'll show
up in the home feed for people who are subscribed and haven't
turned me off and tried to ignore this channel. Also if you're
using the everything layout for your channel like I currently am,
you can go down here and it says recent posts and I'll highlight
that on your homepage and your channel page also. Someone can
click that and go see all of them if they would like to as well.
To give you guys an idea of what it looks like, this is the
subscription tab for the ReelSEO account as you can see right
here and here it is at the very top one minute ago. If you guys
haven't seen it and here it is. It puts it at the very top of
the feed for people who are viewing all activity. Of course if
you hit, "Uploads Only," it goes away, but if you're doing all
activity or looking at the homepage, um, under, "All Activity," you should
be able to see that. Now here's the thing: this doesn't only
apply to videos that you post. You can show a lot of different
things in your feed. If you go to channel settings and then you
go over here to tabs and then click on feed here's the different
activities you will share. Now I have it whenever I like or I
don't have it when I like the video, although I could, whenever I
comment, add a video to playlist, subscribe to a channel. Those
activities will automatically be shared. Now you may be thinking
well I don't want to spam everyone's home feed all the time.
Well it doesn't. It groups these together, so let's say you
responded to like eight different comments on one of your older
videos. It will group all those comments together. For example
right here Ronnie Bincer replied to a comment on this guy's
channel on this video down, um, here. You can see other examples of
people. Like that's my family vlog channel about people who
liked Mr. Arturo Trejo, you guys should definitely check him out.
He's hilarious. I love that guy. Um, ya know, here he uploaded, replied to
a comment on, vidiSEO did on his video, so it combined multiple
sharing actions all into one, so make sure you guys do that and
think carefully about the content that you are sharing, liking,
subscribing to, commenting, all that kind of stuff. It can raise
awareness for some of your older videos but if you do it all the
time it can also just kind of become, like, a mess and just
become noise. So what I try to do, like for example, on this
channel since I post videos probably Tuesday and Thursdays
mainly, sometimes Wednesdays. So maybe like on a Friday or
Saturday when I haven't posted anything for a while I'll try to
keep you guys, the subscribers, still engaged by posting other
videos that I think are valuable for you guys as well. By going
back to my channel feed you'll see that this weekend I also
posted this video and it's a great parody of new changes coming
to YouTube and it is a pretty funny video. I thought that would
be valuable for you guys. This one also I posted for you. I
said, "Hey, I think John's advice to writers also applies to video
creators. What do you think? Is this the key to success as a
creator?" and if you guys haven't seen that I really do think it's
valuable. It's also on my homepage at youtube.com/videocreators so you can go check
it out there, but just continue to post content whether
it's your older content that maybe your newer subscribers haven't
seen or maybe it's some other content you think is valuable that's
not yours but you want to share it with your audience because you're
adding value to their YouTube feed, so that can do a lot of
great things for you guys. You guys can figure it out. If you have
any questions, comment below and I'll do my best to answer
them and help you out the best you can. If this is your first time
here, make sure you subscribe for other YouTube advice and help
that I'll be giving you guys soon. Also become a Video Creators
