Hello everybody, in this tutorial we will talk about the way to make shapes and diagrams with Photoshop.
I'm sorry for my bad English; this tutorial is provided with subs, I hope it will help!
Even though this program was not born for this purpose, thanks to some basic tools
we can create a tree diagram inserting it in our Word text or web page.
We can create the first box with a Rectangle shape or, to get a better graphic effect,
with a rounded rectangle of which we can define radius and colour.
If we hold down SHIFT we will get a square, otherwise we will get a rectangle having the size we wanted.
Using Blending Options we can manage the properties of our rectangle.
With Trace tool we will create a coloured edge.
We can add later other graphic effects such as a shade or an external shadow.
Let’s add now a text. If we select the shape from Layers panel and moving the cursor on the blue rectangle,
we will see that Photoshop will create a text area as great as our rectangle.
If we hold down SHIFT and drag it downwards, we will move the text only vertically.
You can even use justification tools, after having selected the shape and the text layers.
Let’s add now an arrow. Photoshop allows creating customed heads arrows starting from the simple Line.
You only have to click on the black triangle you find upwards in the toolbar,
select Arrowheads to be End and set the sizes. We can now draw our Line.
In this case the line has acquired rectangle layer effects.
To delete them, right click/Clear layer style.
Let’s then change the colour into black.
adding a minus sign in front of L:100%. Holding down SHIFT, let’s drag horizontally. 0:02:51.000,1193:02:47.295 To create a symmetrical arrow let’s copy the layer, select modification controls
Let’s select the rectangle dragging it holding down ALT in order to create one or more copies.
Let’s create a text for the other two rectangles, too.
Even the text can be copied holding down ALT and dragging.
In this case, holding down SHIFT too, we will cause a repositioning only on the horizontal axis.
We can also copy text and rectangle by selecting both layers (holding down CTRL),
and by making right click/Copy layers.
Let’s add the last arrows.
Our model is done. We can modify arrows shapes, colours, number and size with a very few clicks.
We have to remind us to save a copy as psd so that hereafter we can always modify every single parameter.
Well, that’s all for this tutorial; see you soon!
