Today we are going to look at how Bankscope
handles different types of Bank account statements
both within the report format and in the list format
we will also look at how to view older accounts data using Bankscope settings
Let's start off with a company example. Let's search for the bank HSBC Holdings Plc in the company search box
Type the company name into the search box
This generates a list of company statements/accounts
Consolidation codes indicate whether you are viewing consolidated, i.e. group accounts which begin with C
Or whether they are non-group accounts - beginning with U
Further details on these codes can be found in the Bankscope help file or on the Aberconway Library blog - www.abcyliby.wordpress.com
In this column you will notice that the latest year of accounts for each statement varies
For example, the first entry has the latest accounts up to and including 2010
The 2nd entry's accounts end in 2004. This is because the code C* indicates that these are additional, in this case older, accounts
Let's open up the first main statement for HSBC Holdings PLC
Click on Financials & Ratios then Financial profile
These accounts are IFRS accounts which start in 2004
To view the older accounts, click on the link - "Display additional consolidated statements"
This will now display the older accounts as reported under GAAP
It is easy to see additional accounts when you search by company name
However, when you search for a list of companies using criteria, it only shows the main statement
Let's look at how to display additonal statements for banks on the London Stock Exchange
Let's sort the list by name
Notice that there is only one entry, for example, for Barclays PLC. This is currently displaying the main account only.
To view those additional accounts, go to Settings, Searches, Settings and click on All Statements
You will now see that we have more results, because the list now includes additional statements for each company
Notice now we have four entries for Barclays PLC with the additional statements - C* - listed alongside the main one
Let's have a look at the C* statement which holds additional, older accounts
Now we can see the older, additional accounts
That is how to view additonal account statements in Bankscope
