Corporal Merlin Frydenlund has been with the Motor Carrier Services division of the
Montana Department of Transportation for the past thirty four years
more than twenty of those years have been in a patrol truck in the Great Falls
district
he enjoys all of the aspects of his job
especially those duties involving size and weight enforcement
weight matters because
weight on highways
will make ruts in the road
and wear out the highways and the more weight you haul the harder it is on the highways
the pavement on the highways will run out and stuff when you have more weight especially in the summertime when its hot
uh... we use our bi-use portable scale - we also have our permanent weigh stations
weigh them on our scales, then we have a bridge chart we use to tell how much they can haul
and we tape them out with our tape measure and see how much they can haul.
We at the Montana Department of Transportation would like to thank
Merlin for his hard work and dedication to the job in protecting Montana's
roadways
