You watched us design and build this house in 150 days, but the work is far from over.
We're about to jump into my favorite part of the process of bringing all this together.
Join me for an exclusive look right here on eHow Home. You know how I'm always looking
for a bargain? And I'm always looking for something that, well, it was intended for
one thing, but I'm gonna put it work doing something else. Well, this is a classic example
of it. Pretty cool looking, huh? Looks like a bowl. Well, actually, this was part of a
light fixture, and I got it over at Chuck's Salvage for 12 bucks. I thought it was alabaster
when I first saw it because you can see these striations, so it looks very much like a natural
material. But it's actually a glass, very heavy glass. And you can tell it was a light
fixture -- no one there knew what it was -- because it had a hole here in the bottom, so it probably
had a stem that came up and the lights were here, and it would of been mounted very close
to the ceiling. But it's so beautiful with this scalloped edge, I thought, hey, maybe
we should just use it as a bowl. Come on in and let me show you. So even though it's really
large, I love the fact that it's so over scaled and it dominates this table. Of course, you
probably wouldn't sit here and friends for supper around this table with this bowl, but
from day to day it's a great vessel, and the scale, like I said, is perfect for here. I
like things that are oversized. Now, what do you put it in? Well, you can do a lot of
different things. You could use fruit -- would be an obvious choice. The red would work really
well in this room. You could do something like plants, like Bromeliads. Imagine filling
this with these gorgeous Bromeliads with the red tips. Or you could find some interesting
round spheres or orbs like this. This actually a ball that is wrapped in old saris from India.
Imagine this bowl filled with those. Don't know what I'm gonna do. If you wanna check
in with us from time to time and see, we'd love to show you. And if you have some ideas,
I'd love to hear about it. Tell a friend about us, and subscribe to eHow Home.
