OK, so here we have my Google Galaxy Nexus,
and we have
this old bank card, which I've stuck a NFC chip onto.
What I'm now going to show you is how
much distance you need for it actually to be able to scan. So I'm going to turn the phone on the side
and you'll hear a tone when the chip is close enough.
There you go, and you can see
there I'm quite far away when I'm doing this
about four centimetres or so
from the actual phone.
And this is why it's called contactless payments because
what it's actually doing is, as you should just be able to see up at the top there,
is when I pop the card underneath,
turn my wifi on and off with a toggle.
You'll see that the card
not even having to touch it.
So you can imagine that if you have a sticker
just on say the door frame as you walk in and out of your house, wave your phone over it,
toggle your wifi on and off.
Very very short and quick demonstration of NFC.
