bjbjT~T~ Video Blog Week of September 27, 2010 Accountability. It s one of our values
and it s something that s important to each of us in a very personal way. Our patients
hold us accountable for their care. Organizations such as the NIH and National Cancer Institute
hold us accountable for using the grant money they provide in the best way possible, our
supervisors hold us accountable for our job responsibilities and, in turn, we hold our
leaders accountable for helping us establish a work environment where we can thrive. One
way we measure our work environment is our OneVoice faculty and staff satisfaction survey.
We recently completed our 2010 pulse survey, and it points to several strengths and opportunities
for improvement and focus. You told us how we can make the work place here at OSU Medical
Center even better, and you can hold me and the leaders of the Medical Center accountable
for taking action. First, I d like to share the strengths that you reported. Staff told
us that they were proud of where they work. So much so, they d recommend the Medical Center
to a friend both as a great place to work and as a place to come for healthcare services.
Reported strengths also included overall job satisfaction and relationships with co-workers.
Physicians listed the quality of patient care provided by the staff, the overall quality
of our nursing staff as well as the level of collaboration with our nurses as key strengths.
Like our staff, research and teaching faculty reported high levels of pride in our organization
along with a sense of teamwork and appreciation for their co-workers. Areas of opportunity
include: A focus on performance feedback and recognition to improve supervisor/employee
day-to-day interactions. Strengthening relationships between Health Staff administration and physicians
is another opportunity. Physicians are a valued part of our team, and we will work to build
a stronger partnership. Improving supervisor and faculty interactions through more collaborative
relationships is another area we will address. Leaders have been asked to partner with you
to incorporate these items into their existing area s OneVoice action plans and to include
them as an objective on their P3. While plans may differ from area to area, having a common
set of opportunities for improvement will ensure that we re working in alignment toward
our goal of becoming a workplace of choice. To learn more about OneVoice, visit the HYPERLINK
"https://www.osumc.edu/WebPage.aspx?pg=Employee_Satisfaction_Home_Page" home page on OneSource . And, if you have
any questions, talk with your leadership team and reply to this blog. Finally, I d like
to remind you of one more way we can all practice personal accountability. Flu season is right
around the corner and again this year, OSU Medical Center is providing the influenza
vaccine for all faculty and staff. This is non-discretionary, and each of us must get
the vaccine or fill out the exemption form and have it approved. There s information
on OneSource regarding the policy and vaccination times and locations. This is an important
way to help keep our patients, visitors and colleagues healthy this winter and one more
way we re all accountable for improving people s lives. Thank you for all you continue to
do and have a great week! zmzmz `z`z [Content_Types].xml Iw}, $yi} _rels/.rels theme/theme/themeManager.xml
