The DBMi Saddle System is Duplo's heavy-duty, high volume collating and saddle stitching system.
Designed for today's offset and digital print markets,
the DBMi combines PC-based programming and intelligent feeding
with superior scoring and folding to produce thicker, flatter books up to 4,500 booklets an hour.
The DBMi offers print providers complete automation and precision,
creating a wide range of saddle stitch applications on demand.
And with its unique ability to handle 24-inch length sheets,
the DBMi is the first in its class to produce the increasingly popular, letter landscape booklet.
The system is controlled entirely from the user-friendly PC Controller.
Jobs are easily set up from one central location without making any manual adjustments.
An infinite number of jobs can be saved to the memory and instantly recalled and set up in under 60 seconds.
Sheets are collated and fed from the DSC-10/60i Suction Collators.
Up to six towers can be connected to provide non-stop productivity.
The DSC-10/60i Collators carry on Duplo's patented dual fan technology and air management system,
offering the most reliable feeding in the industry.
All bins operate with two independently adjustable fans,
generating the correct amount of air and suction for consistent and reliable feeding.
The air management system enables operators to easily fine-tune
the amount and strength of air desired with adjustments conveniently located beside each bin.
Independent suction power can also be adjusted from the PC Controller.
High resolution optical sensors ensure miss or double feeding errors are identified
and any faulty sets are diverted into a reject tray, allowing continuous operation.
Faulty sets, once corrected, can simply be re-inserted by hand.
The DSC-10/60i Collators can also process custom feed jobs using the IMBF software.
Operators can feed single or multiple sheets from the same bin
to seamlessly merge offset and digital jobs or create one-to-one booklets.
The saddle stitching process begins in the Scoring and Folding Unit, where subsets up to 10 sheets can be accepted.
Each subset is individually aligned, jogged, scored, and plough folded for a flat finish.
Once scored and folded, subsets are transported into the Stitching Unit
where up to 30 sheets can be accumulated for stitching and trimming.
The system utilizes heavy-duty, Hohner stitch heads
and can switch from 2, 3 or 4 stitch positions as the job requires.
In the Tucker Unit, stitched booklets are moved up for final trimming.
Books are face trimmed first then side trimmed
on the optional DKT-200 Two-Knife Trimmer, providing a full-bleed finish.
And by adding the gutter knives, users can process 2-up applications, producing up to 9,000 booklets an hour.
Finished booklets are neatly delivered onto the long stacker
while all waste is conveniently deposited into an external bin.
A stitch detection sensor records incorrectly-stitched books,
which are then separated on the conveyor for easy removal.
The DBMS Saddle Stitcher can also connect to the new DSF-2200 Digital Sheet Feeder, with or without the collators.
The DSF-2200 accepts pre-collated jobs and offers full set integrity via the optional barcode reader.
The DBMi Saddle System offers a large range of optional features
providing added value and versatility for a vast range of applications.
