Hey guys, Welcome to todays video I am Megafishguy1001
and if you've noticed i'm not standing by my tank but that is because it has nothing
to do with my tank but with these two carbon pads.I am going to be talking about why you
don't actually need these carbon pads in your tank and it could be very useful for anybody
who wants to get a fish tank on a budget and get it set up on a budget.Okay so lets get
started but before that the neon tetras in my tank are because i have hit a 100 subscriber
mark which i want to thank all of you for. Also my betta fish is actually going to turn three
years old on January so I might get something for it.Anyway guys lets get started with the
video,I also want to that a load of you for supporting me on google+ because i asked for
you to look at my google+ page.Lets get started with carbon fibre pads (Looks blank) sorry
i meant carbon pads.A typical filter has biological, chemical and mechanical filtration.Im here to talk
about chemical filtration in your tank.Chemical Filtration is not specifically needed for
many filters and tanks and ill tell you why.Chemical Filtration is used to get out all the chemicals
in your tank (Medical Treatments ect.) and by that i dont mean chlorine, your going to
need a dechlorinator for that or ammonia and fish waste you will need biological filtration
for that.I never personally use carbon pads not even in my Fluval Filter (which is awesome.)They
usually only need to go in when your tank has been treated because it sucks in all the
medical treatment after it has been used but after a month or two your going to need to
replace it like on the Fluval Filters because it will release the chemicals back out again. This
could sometimes be very expensive especially if you are trying to set up a tank on a budget
and they can be hard to find. The only reason i see for using it is if you have treated
your tank with liquid medicine and the treatment process is over. And if you want really good
filtration you may think the carbon will help but it doesent help drastically.Biological
and Mechanical Filtration are vital but not really chemical filtration. If you take out
the chemical filtration then you can surely fit more mechanical and biological filtration
which will help your tank so much more than just adding two carbon pads which you can
only use for a short period. This means your tank filter wont be taking in chemicals slowly
and then releasing it all out again. If you want this to happen your fish will probably
die.Once it releases it there is going to be more dirt and chemical waste in your tank
than ever!So you dont need Carbin fibre pads (Drops them.)
