NARRATOR: Next on "Xtreme Waterparks"...
[ Screaming ]
NARRATOR: ..."The Beast of the Middle East,"
a 350-foot slide that hits 40 miles an hour.
[ Screaming ]
The facial expressions are priceless.
Whoa!
Whoa-ho-ho-ho-ho! Nice!
NARRATOR: Island slides so far from civilization,
it's a mudfest to get there.
Oh, it was so much fun.
[ Screaming ]
NARRATOR: And the legendary spinner
that'll leave you dazed and confused.
It's insane.

NARRATOR: We start in a place known as the "Vegas of the Middle East,"
a city dripping with excess,
where even waterparks have to go big or go home.
We got to go a little bit bigger and better than everybody else.
We don't wait for things to happen. We make it happen.
[ Screaming ]
NARRATOR: We're halfway around the world in the city of Dubai...
home of the world's tallest tower,
the only hotel on the planet that's a seven-star,
and an outrageous waterpark called Wild Wadi.
The beautiful landscape is really hiding something extreme
around every corner.
[ Screaming ]
NARRATOR: 12 acres stacked with 17 slides.
Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
NARRATOR: It's the only park in the world with eight water coasters
that can blast you 50 feet uphill.
[ Screams ]
[ Laughs ]
Whoo! I was thinking, "Thank god we're on something bouncy.
At least it will bounce."
[ Laughter ]
It's -- I can't describe. It's insane.
NARRATOR: Rami is a local who works in finance.
He's here with Bakor and Sarah, who just joined the company
and wanted to see the best of Dubai.
It's day off out of the office,
and you get to have fun in the middle of the week.
Who could say no?
NARRATOR: What he's just finding out is that Sarah was almost a no-show.
I'm usually scared of waterparks.
I might back up at a few rides.
NARRATOR: And what's next might be one of them.
It's this...
[ People screaming ]
...the eight-story-high triple threat called Tantrum Alley.
[ Screaming ]
It's the only ride on Earth with three 24-foot funnels.
'Cause why have two? Why do what somebody else has done?
SARAH: This is scary because it's open.
And you don't see what's happening after the curve.
Most extreme part of Tantrum Alley
really is the entrance.
[ Screaming ]
CHRIS: That initial drop --
they feel that they're gonna get launched onto the road.
[ Screaming ]
NARRATOR: And every time you think you're home free,
there's another funnel...
and another.
[ Screaming continues ]
[ All cheering ]
It's very deceptive.
You see the road below you,
and you're like, "If I let go, I'm dead."
It's good that the guys were next to me.
So I was looking at their faces,
and it was making me feel better, a bit better.
NARRATOR: But that may not last, because next...
is the 9-1/2-story, 350-foot-long double-drop beast
called Jumeirah Sceirah.
CHRIS: You're reaching speeds of about 40 miles per hour,
and it's the longest 8 seconds of their life
to reach the bottom.
Uh-huh.
Are you serious, guys?
We didn't tell you.
We didn't tell you what we were gonna be doing,
but this is it.
Are you serious? I can't do this.
NARRATOR: The freak-out starts on the way up.
With every step, the stairs get smaller,
and the walls get tighter.
Oh, my...
Guys, I can't do it.
Can I go first?
BAKOR: I think you should go first.

[ Screaming ]
I feel I just escaped this. I'm in one piece.
[ Screams ]
Come on, chicken! Come on!
[ Screaming ]
Wow.
You think she's gonna make it?
The problem that if she doesn't come down,
[ Laughs ]
I'm so scared.
Sarah! Sarah!
Sarah! Sarah!
Sarah! Sarah!

SARAH: It was so scary.
4 seconds there were like an hour
because it was fast but really scary at the same time.
[ Laughter ]
How was it?
Group hug, group hug.
NARRATOR: Next, a six-story free fall with a legendary spin zone.
[ Screaming ]
Oh! It was crazy.
[ Screams ]

[ Screaming ]
NARRATOR: So far, we've screamed our way
down a 40-mile-an-hour drop slide...
[ Screaming ]
NARRATOR: ...surviving the most feared slide in Dubai.
Next, we head east to a city known for 30 miles of hot beach,
hard bodies, and a slide that's become local legend
for scaring the crap out of people.
[ Screaming ]
[ Screaming ]
Your stomach is going to drop, you're going to get a wedgie,
and you're going to get water up your nose.
[ Screaming ]
NARRATOR: We're in Virginia in the coastal city of Virginia Beach.
The park is Ocean Breeze,
and the thriller is the Hurricane,
one of 17 wild rides at O.B.
If you really want to get your adrenaline pumping,
we've got it.
[ Screams ]
NARRATOR: And they've got something nobody else has
called Neptune's Revenge, it's four monster slides,
more than 1,200 feet of drops, loops,
and tunnels twisted together.
MYRA: It's a complete maze.
You don't know what's gonna happen
before you get to the bottom.
[ Screaming ]
Whoo!
That was awesome. Oh, my God.
It was so cool, like, the whole time.
Go, go, go!
Hit it over.
NARRATOR: Holly is a beach-volleyball player blowing off steam
with teammates Jen, Brandy, and Julia.
We're all competitive girls. We like to have a good time.
Off our toes, off our feet, and just on a tube and relaxed.
HOLLY: This is pretty sweet.
You just want to ride every single ride.
You want to do all of them.
NARRATOR: But for Holly, "all of them" doesn't mean this...
...the 6-story, 92-foot-long force of nature
called the Hurricane.
[ Screams ]
You're gonna walk up those stairs and think,
"I'm not sure if I want to do this."
It's terrifying.
Whoa.
JULIA: Oh, my God.
Okay. Let's go. Let's go.
HOLLY: I don't know.
Holly, come on.
I'm a little bit scared.
I know it's gonna be really intimidating.
JULIA: She is badass on the volleyball court,
and she's scared right now?
She's messing with us. She's got to be.
It's truly like experiencing a storm.
You take that plunge. You spin in the bowl.
You're completely disoriented at the end.
Oh, it's so high.
Oh, no. I don't want to do it.
[ Laughter ]
BRANDY: Are you serious?
Look how far down that is.
All right, Hurricane time. Whoo!
Show us how it's done.
Go, Brandy.
[ Screaming ]
BRANDY: Oh, I was not expecting that.
I didn't know when I was gonna stop.
And then, all of a sudden, you just kind of drop out of it,
and you don't know where you are.
That was pretty cool.
Oh, my God. All right, I'm going next. I'm going next.
Whoo! Whoo-hoo!
[ Screaming ]
Whoo-hoo!
Yeah, I did it! That was cool.
It was a feeling that I've never had before.
I didn't know what was going on.
Oh! It was crazy.
Come on, guys, let's go!
Let's do it!
I'm gonna go last, so you have to go.
I might not go.
All right, here I go.
Whoo!
Oh. [ Laughing ] Oh.
Oh, my God.
Yeah!
[ Screaming ]
Oh, my God. I screamed like a baby.
[ Laughter ]
Oh, my gosh. Wow.
BRANDY: She still looks scared.
[ Laughter ]
Let's go!
Come on, girl! Get it, girl!
You got this. Let's go.
[ Screaming ]
[ Cheers ]
You got it, girl!
Oh, my God.
It's just like the blink of an eye,
and you're all the way down.
It's insane.
It's so much fun, and then you come out
and you're crazy because you don't know where you are.
Awesome. Look at you.
You did it off your back. You looked good.
Oh, my God. That was so scary.
Whoo!
NARRATOR: Next on "Xtreme,"
the only indoor ride that closes in on you.
NARRATOR: From the only waterpark on the planet
with eight different coasters
to the world's first twisted combo
It's insane.
...we're searching for rides like no other on Earth.
Next, a park with two reasons to brag.
Whoo!
NARRATOR: It's got the only indoor slide
that puts the squeeze on you, and a secret for making it fast.
MICHAEL: It has a brand-new coating on it.
The only slide in the world with this coating.
[ Screaming ]
NARRATOR: We're in the northern tip of Idaho
outside a town called Coeur d'Alene.
The groundbreaking park is Raptor Reef...
[ Screams ]
...more than 1,000 feet of fiberglass,
four unforgettable slides...
...like the 300-foot Superbowl.
You drop very, very quickly, you enter the Superbowl...
Whoo!
...and go around five, six, seven times.
NARRATOR: And then, suddenly, the raft stops,
and you're heading backwards to the ultimate splash-down.
[ Screams ]
Whoa!
[ Laughter ]
CHRIS: That was awesome!
Did you guys go down backwards, too?
I've been talking to my friends about this crazy ride
and how much fun it is.
It's just a blast.
NARRATOR: It's Chris' job to help pick the slides at Raptor Reef.
He's finally convinced his friends
Jordan, Kristin, and Lauren to come check out his work.
JORDAN: I love water rides.
I mean, I've been a water fanatic since I was little,
so I can't wait to get on these rides.
KRISTIN: Heights and fast water slides --
it all makes me a little nervous, but I'm really pumped.
NARRATOR: That's good because next is the Constrictor...
[ Screaming ]
NARRATOR: ...the only indoor slide in the world
that swallows you like a snake.
Isn't that terrible?
[ Screaming continues ]
NARRATOR: The 350-foot tube physically tightens, getting 40% smaller...
[ Screaming ]
NARRATOR: ...then tosses you into three hairpin turns
at 20 miles an hour.
The slide pulls about 2.2 G's.
NARRATOR: Adding to the intensity --
a clear coating on the slide called silk gel
that protects it while upping your speed.
So it makes for a great ride.
CHRIS: See how tight those turns are?
You're gonna freak out.
KRISTIN: Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
[ Laughs ]
CHRIS: All right, let's go.
I'm ready.
All right, let's do it.
Whoo!
[ Screaming ]
[ Both laugh ]
That ride was so intense. It was pitch black.
You couldn't see anything.
All of a sudden, you're ripping around the corner,
and you don't know which way you're going.
It's just -- It's crazy. It's so much fun.
Whoo! Here we go.
[ Screaming ]
Whoo!
You're just basically holding on as tight as you can,
because you can feel the G-forces
hitting you straight in the face.
Yeah.
[ Laughter ]
NARRATOR: Next, island slides so remote,
it's an adventure just getting there.
I'm ready to wash off now.
NARRATOR: We're on the hunt for the most extreme water rides ever...
a nearly 10-story drop
that's the longest 8 seconds of your life...
the only indoor slide on the planet
that tightens like a snake.
But what's next...
MAN: Whoo!
...could be our wildest slides yet.
They're off road and brutal.
[ Screaming ]
Most girls scream the whole way down.
[ Screaming continues ]
But guys -- they try not to scream,
but we do get little ones out of them, too,
every once in a while. [ Chuckles ]
[ Screaming ]
NARRATOR: We're in Hawaii on the island of Maui,
just outside the city of Lahaina.
The one-of-a-kind waterpark is Kahoma Ranch,
three slides at the top of a mountain
20 minutes from civilization.
MAN: Oh [bleep]
[ Screaming ]
DUKE: All right, welcome to Kahoma Ranch.
My name is Duke.
If you like the color of your shoes, you better borrow a pair.
[ Laughter ]
LAURA: We go snorkeling.
We go all these things in the ocean all the time.
But to be able to come up on the mountain
and be able to go down these water slides --
this is so different and exciting.
NARRATOR: Laura moved to Hawaii six months ago on a whim.
Her friends, Chad, Nic, and Karli, did the same thing.
They ran away to paradise.
[ Engine turns over ]
I have to pinch myself every day when I wake up.
NIC: You could live here your whole life
and still not explore the whole island.
Whoo!
NIC: Oh, yeah!
DUKE: Perfect. Put them in park, turn them off.
We made it.
LAURA: I know. Me too.
LAURA: I'm a little nervous that these water slides
are gonna beat me up a little bit,
but I think we're gonna have a really good time.
NARRATOR: But are they ready for this?
Three homemade slides covered in rigid, unforgiving plastic
that almost always leaves a bruise.
This looks fun.
Oh, my God. Look at this.
Little curves in the slide. That looks pretty awesome.
Let's get this started.
Yeah.
NARRATOR: Laura and gang could hit the first slide,
the 100-footer built for beginners, called the Wiohuli.
But, instead, they're going for speed on the wide Peheiei,
a straight shot that hauls at 25 feet a second.
Whoo!
NIC: Yeah, Chad.
It's cold.
Whoo!
Oh [bleep] Whoo!
[ All cheering ]
It's a little rough. I didn't see where I was going, but it was pretty cool.
Yee-hoo!
Whoo!
Oh-ho-ho-ho!
A little nervous?
Okay. All right.
[ Screaming ]
[ Both cheering ]
It's a rush. You're going fast.
You're kind of sliding each way. So much fun.
[ Screaming ]
NIC: Oh, yeah!
Once I hit the water, it was just like, "Yes!"
Whoo! [ Laughs ]
NARRATOR: But next, they're hitting the Waileilei --
always the crowd favorite.
There's a hidden ramp midway that guarantees air.
All you feel is the wind on your face,
cold water under your butt, and then you catch air.
Next thing you know, you're in the water.
Guarantee.
Who's going first this time? You're up.
I'm up?
All right.
See ya!
Whoo!
Oh-ho-ho-ho-ho! Nice!
Whoo!
Wish me luck. Yes.
KARLI: Aah!
[ Screaming ]
Definitely a little bit more exciting than the last one,
a little rougher, a lot more bumps, obviously, the huge one.
Whoo!
Whoo!
Yeah!
Yeah!
Yeah!
Oh, that was sick.
Laura, you ready?
LAURA: Whoo! I'm nervous.
Okay. [ Laughs ] Okay, ready? Whoo!
[ Screaming ]
The scariest part was watching everyone else. [ Laughs ]
I should have just gone first,
because it's such a blast once you're on it.
[ Cheers ]
CHAD: That was awesome!
Yeah! Whoo!
NARRATOR: So, just how much does it rain
at the top of the West Maui Mountains?
Yo.
What's up with this rain?
I'm not too sure what's up with the rain, man.
It never rains up here.
NARRATOR: Apparently, only when our "Xtreme" crew is in town.
But a little rain and mud
doesn't keep us or our cast off the slides.
My fingers are numb. [ Laughs ]
I know.
It's not supposed to be this cold.
We don't say cold, though.
We say refreshing is what we say up there. [ Chuckles ]
Whoa!
