Announcer: Saints fans, please turn your attention to the big screens
to honor today's Peoples Health Champion - Dwight Smith.
Dwight Smith: I am 80 years old and I play basketball every day
so when I am 90 I will still be king of the court.
Donna Klein: On August 8, 2009, at the age of 80, Dwight Smith led
the Louisiana Tigers to a silver medal in basketball
at the National Senior Olympics.
He scored more than a hundred points in addition to contributing the most
blocks and rebounds.
It's all the more amazing that he took this up at the age of 63
and he does it with vision only in one eye.
There was an accident on the basketball court
in which Dwight's eye was injured.
He returned to the basketball court with fierce determination.
Amazingly, Dwight has succeeded at the three-pointer.
He can shoot and never miss.
Dwight epitomizes a Peoples Health Champion.
Age seems to challenge him to be greater.
Dwight Smith: My good health is attributed to my physical activity
and the good friends that surround me.
Donna Klein: Congratulations Dwight
you're a slam dunk as far as I'm concerned.
