Halo I'm Master Anthony Anett I am the head instructor here in Jacksonville Florida Sport kung fu academy of Jacksonville. Today we're gona work on a few things, The main thing is understanding the three types of fighters, not the three types of styles cause there are many martial arts styles but your goal is understanding the character and temperament of that fighter. We are gona talk about the Rat type fighter the Hawk type fighter and the Snake type fighter. Today we're gona talk about the Rat type fighter and today I have one of my students help me his name is Giuseppe and he is gona assist me when I go over the techniques so Giuseppe come on out. The Rat type fighter is fast he likes to get in and get out unhurt he does not like to stand and go toe to toe for too long he is normally a quicker lighter fighter so he knows he can't go clashing with a stronger more aggressive opponent so the Rat is trying to get the cheese. The cheese is any opening that you present or anything he thinks that's open that he preserves. The Rat is hard to catch you can't chase this style this person fights like the Rat, your in trouble trying to chase him like the cat chasing the mouse. But when he comes in to kick your stomach punch your face grab or hit you then you set your trap to get him. So his stance is normally how you can tell the Rat fighter his stance is very nimble very quick and he bounces around a lot staying agile. He throws a lot of quick jabs back fists to follow up with other strikes, in this case my Rat stylist is gona come in with a couple of jabs and a cross in Wing Chun because our guard we use the principles in the Wing Chun kung fu of the reverse movement and also to keep our guard out far to make our opponent to go around so he straight quick attacks nullified but that doesn't stop him from using it to get to the cheese. So my opponent will come in and right from here I set the trap as he pulls his arm back I larp (grab) them finish up. So I when parallel to cross leg and I finish up from here. So he likes to move he likes to be quick like to be in and out and we can set the trap. Now that's for when the Rat attacks for the cheese that he perceives as an opening but when we attack the Rat its hard to catch him so we have to give him something that will make him slow down so we can catch him and we do that by attacking his weapons to make him block and there for make him stand still. So as he is moving around I throw a back leg kick to draw that arm out and I finish up from here, going parallel to end up cross leg so one two and three. Now parallel same thing from here I draw his arm out then finish up. From here draw his arm out and finish up, make him commit to the block and finish up. Halo we're back talking about dealing with Rat type stylist again remember their system and their art is irrelevant they can be doing any style but their mentality is a Rat mentality so we're gona apply this in training with the Wing Chun kung fu we apply this in a training program called Chi Sao which is double sticky arms. So to help me with this I have with me Sifu Maurice from Melbourne Australia he's gona help show you with me how to apply the training to deal with a Rat stylist through our Wing Chun Chi Sao. Come on in Maurice good to see you. So I'm gona be the Rat and with the sensitivity exercises you can get quick contact reflexes that will help you fight that particular type of animal which is the Rat. So from here we get in our normal Chi Sao position if you notice the hands are really close to hitting you already, my lead hand is here it's already close to hit him my bottom hand is here is also already close to hit. This is a great exercise to deal with the quick Rat stylist. So I'll take my lead hand and I'll step in to attack Maurice using my leg to move forward this quick attack is typically hard to get away once he uses his footwork to trap the Rat he can finish up. So with this one here he steps back to do the bon sao (wing arm block) and because I'm close he just larp sao, chun sao strike, back fist strike or straight punch. So from here we do a couple of rotations and I come in he steps back bon sao larp soa strike and the he finish up. Ok agai and this is great exercise to deal with the Rat straight in one two three, and you see I'm stepping in with my left leg so this makes this distance really tight really quick to deal with the Rat. Now this hand here is very close so when I strike with this one he does that same footwork to great a gap or buffer he keeps this one it didn't move so he keeps the forward energy on this one, and when this other one here he dissolves my forward energy but look it opens me up for the kick and the from there he finishes up. So from here you feel his energy keep your forward energy here and from here he steps back to his garn sao keep that energy then kick.
