hey guys , its Isabel, and to day we are going to be making coconut milk, coconut milk is
one of my favorite alternatives to regular dairy and as I teach you in you manual I am
not a big fan of pasteurized dairy so i rather you have coconut milk, almond milk, rise milk,
and even hemp milk are better options, now I know that there are a lot of coconut milks
out on the market today, but I would much rather make my own at home because it's a
lot more natural, and I do not add any ingredients, you are going to see it, it is very very basic,
and it actually taste the best, now when people hear that I make my own coconut milk they
think is this really tedious process, and is not you are going to see, and it is supper,
supper simple, so what I've got here is some organic she added coconut I got a cup and
a half of boiling water, I have a cheese cloth over a bowl, now lets talk about this cheese
cloth, because a lot of eople have no idea what it is, you can get a geese cloth, pretty
much at any supermarket, you do not have to go to any specialty store, and when in doubt
ask someone in the supermarket, you have any cheese cloth, and it is probably in the baking
isle, so you really do not have to go to a specialty store or place to get it. So here
is the first thing you are going to do you are actually going to take 7/8 cup of she
added coconut and put it i the blender, now 7/8th cups just a little bit less than a full
cup, so i really just take my cup measurement and do a little under a full cup, I am not
even that precise with it because it is going to come out great either way, I add in the
blender, and then you got a cup and a half of water in here, but you just want to start
with a cup, so let me get a cup of boiling water in here again this is kinda one of those
recipes that you really can't mess it up ahhh perfect, ok good, now what I a going to do
here is i am going tout muy blender in the highest setting and I am join to blend for
about 2 to 3 minutes, it really is important that you blended for that long cause that
is how you are going to get your coconut milk form the she added coconut, so i am going
to go a head and blend this, (sound of the blender) ok so that has been blending for
about 3 minutes, what you are going to do, and be care full, because it is hot, is you
are actually going to pour this on to the cheese cloth, ok so now, what he cheese cloth
really is, is perfect for stringing, i know it has many other uses as well, but as you
can see all of the yummy coconut milk, is coming down, and once this is cool led just
a little bit you can start to squeeze it and really get a lot of great coconut milk outs
the reason why I have half a cup of water left here is because you are actually going
to repeat this process cause you want to get all of the coconut milk out of it so very
carefully you are going to put these she added coconut back into the blender, put my cheese
cloth back, over the bowl, and I am going to put the remainder of the water, right in
the blender ad that is really it, I am just going to blend this again for about 3 to 4
minutes, and then repeat the process put it back in the cheese cloth, squeeze all the
coconut milk out and this is what you are going to get right here, and then what I usually
do is save a lot of glass containers, this one I remember came from some apple sauce,
organic apple sauce had purchased and then I washed out really well and I save it and
i use these for my coconut milk, so as you can see this is a very very simple process,
shaded coconut, and boiling water and string it and you ail have delicious coconut milk,
enjoy.
