Welcome to this week's Spread the Love
This week we are talking about Among Friends and Clutter.
Among Friends and Clutter is a character exploration piece.
Seven members of Mrs. Morton's grade two class
are seen in relationships throughout their entire life:
family, friends, and love.
Craig what do you love about Among Friends and Clutter?
I was really really happy to reacquaint
myself with Among Friends and Clutter,
it's been a long time since I've read it.
And what I was struck with was
how much it reminds me of our vignette plays.
If you've done our vignette plays before
and if you're looking for something with a
little more substance to it,
Among Friends and Clutter is definitely worth a look.
It's also infinitely flexible.
If you have experienced students
it can be done with a cast of seven
or you can expand it all the way up to thirty-nine.
Lindsay what do you love about Among Friends and Clutter?
Well, not only is Among Friends and Clutter our oldest play,
it is also my oldest play.
It is my first play, the first play I ever wrote,
the first play that was ever produced way back in 1991.
And what I adore about the piece
is that it still finds an audience today.
Teachers call me up, this year even,
and tell me how much their students love putting on this piece.
And the greatest complement any playwright can ever
receive is that their work is timeless.
That's it for Spread the Love.
