Your Four Mainstays lifestyle brings greatly beneficial power to human society.
This is just so essential, so important.
And to deeply rest in the realization
of the reality of who you are, it’s just so absolutely essential.
All of the ideas about who we are, the things that are presented to us,
often are way, way, way off-base.
And so, when we come here, very often things are a tumble and a jumble of all kinds of things
that we’ve heard about ourselves, ideas that have been presented to us about who we are,
things that we think about ourselves, ideas we have,
data streams that are just essentially running here, there and everywhere.
And the importance of resting
in the total wisdom reality of who you are, it is just so essential.
And to never veer from that, to never, ever veer from that,
never be separate from it,
to never, ever, ever think that there is a reality other than the great reality
of who you are; who we are.
This is something I was thinking about at two o’clock this morning;
and by three I think it was bright daylight!
I was just reflecting back on my own life
and the life of my family too, and just how it is so important
that we all deeply, deeply realize who we are.
And the instructions to rest naturally are...
they are not a concept
or something that needs to be brought about;
it’s the reality of who we already are.
And sometimes there’s just so much going on
that’s presented in our everyday life
that we might have had other ideas,
but it’s okay, it’s just okay, to never veer
from the great reality.
Now, in looking directly at it, you see yourself within it, as it.
Very often we : “Oh gee, I’m here, I’m just right here.
I’m within my skin line; that’s who I am. My existence is within my skin-line.”
But if we rest naturally just for a brief moment,
we see that our existence is vast, it’s beyond our skin-line.
We can’t really identify a point at which it came about,
a point at which open intelligence began; there isn’t any such thing.
So the great reality is the inseparable reality of what we are.
It isn’t you or you or you.
That’s pretty amazing isn’t it?
And to have a life where you’re surrounded by the Four Mainstays,
to always be within the Four Mainstays knowing that there is no other reality,
this is your great reality; there is no other reality.
Now, I know that in terms of my own life
and the coming about of Balanced View
and the coming about of all of us here together, it’s just so beautiful.
I sit in wonder up there in my room at two in the morning,
looking out and it’s just a very blessed reality
that we all share.
We come here together, but when we go, we never go anywhere.
We never go anywhere.
What a wondrous marvel it is; life is spent growing
in the potency of wisdom benefit, effortlessly yet potently.
We all have something that we do every day
our agenda for the day, our everyday life.
And whatever that is, it’s a wondrous marvel.
There’s never a moment of being separate
or having any kind of separate reality
from the great reality, no matter what it is we're doing.
You are never separate from you; you are the only you.
Reification: most of us grow up
and we are trained to believe in reification.
Reification is just a simple term,
and what it means is that we believe that everything has a separate existence,
that it has it’s own nature, that it was brought about by its own self-effort.
But if we look around, we can see that isn’t true.
For any one of us, it isn’t true. We don’t have a separate reality;
we don’t have a separate self-nature.
Like, if you look back to your own life, where you began,
where was that exactly? Where did you begin?
If I look into my own life, and I say, “Well, where did I begin?”
Well, I can’t find a place where I began,
and I can’t find a place where I’ll end either.
That’s true for all of us.
This is the reality that we’re all living right now.
It’s not something that’s coming about in the future, the Era of Great Benefit;
it’s being lived right now.
The Age of Human Empowerment,
a time when human beings realize what we are,
what we really are. It’s so amazing.
That we come off the target of being a separate self,
a separate individual identity,
and open up into a vast, fathomless perspective.
This is the only way we can have a shared reality,
the only way we have all of the things we dream of
world peace, coming together in harmony.
We can see when we look at the world that we live in
that all the national boundaries are fading; everything is fading.
I could see this in my own life. When I first started out on…
I guess I was about twenty, twenty-three
or so when I first was online.
And I could see suddenly that my whole reality changed
from being a separate individual self to complete openness,
where I had many friends that I would never meet.
I would never see their skin line, not ever.
I would never see a place where they began or ended.
I would never have any kind of concept like that about anyone,
and so it had to be ingrained that I would ever come to believe that or think that.
So when we deeply rest in the reality of what we are,
then we don’t have to say anything to share that with anyone else.
Everyone already knows who they are; you know who you are, I know who I am.
It isn’t a challenge of evangelism or anything like that.
It’s the reality of what we are.
When wisdom is presented, very often, it's just such a…
Wisdom, what is that? What is wisdom?
We hear that word, and it seems,
wisdom, is that something someone has? Where is wisdom?
What is wisdom? We can’t really say what it is or where it is.
It isn’t a thing. It isn’t something that can be cultivated;
it comes about only resting in the reality of who we are.
That’s the only way. And then wisdom is spontaneous;
it is perfectly related to time, place, circumstance and the result of benefit.
All the concepts we have about how to bring about wisdom,
we can just set them all aside, because all we have is this brilliant moment.
That’s all we have,
this brilliant short moment. That’s it.
And everything we need to know, we know right now.
There isn’t some stretch to reach out and find something in the future,
or to reach into the background and bring something forward to remember wisdom.
Wisdom is right here,
right now, only in this short moment.
The instruction: “short moments, repeated many times become obvious";
wisdom becomes obvious at all times.
Resting is most important, just resting naturally,
that is most important of all; there isn’t anything that needs to be done,
no effort that needs to be made.
All the challenges that we set forth in our lives,
there is nothing that we need to do, no effort whatsoever,
just the sparkle of who we are right here.
That’s it. That’s it.
During the night I was just thinking about the beauty,
just the utter beauty of everyone here,
and how marvelous it is that we know that,
that we can share that with each other, that we can take that out into the world.
“Resting naturally as the clear radiance of perfect knowledge illuminating each short moment.”
Wow. There is just so much in that sentence.
It says that all knowledge is present,
all knowledge, everything we need to know, it’s present in every short moment.
If we are in school, striving to learn something,
what is it that we’re trying to learn?
No matter what kind of knowledge is accumulated, it all boils down to this short moment.
There is no need to try to be someone else.
Maybe we have role models or figures that we look at, we look up to,
but there isn’t any need to be anyone else other than who we are.
You are the only you.
And resting deeply within that, it is the only reality.
There isn’t anyone else to be
other than the brilliant you.
“You wisely meet the capacity of everyone,
rather than showing off your comprehension and realization of wisdom-knowledge.”
Wisdom, compassion, none of these things can be cultivated in reality.
They cannot be cultivated;
the only wisdom and compassion are
the spontaneous wisdom and compassion of this moment,
where I meet you,
where you meet me, where you meet the person sitting next to you,
behind you, in front of you, outside.
To try to accumulate something and bring it into the moment, that just never works.
It doesn’t work.
Is everything okay there? Okay, good.
There just isn't anyone to pretend to be.
By putting all our energy into resting naturally as beneficial potency,
our extraordinary presence perfectly embodies fathomless ease and vastness, like endless sky.
I think Silfan wrote that to me in an email.
Fathomless ease and vastness, that’s a mouthful, isn’t it?
Fathomless ease and vastness,
like endless sky. Where is the skin-line?
Try to find it right now; where do you begin and end?
I can’t find any separation anywhere.
“Resting as the great benefit of each moment, you easily generate confidence and strength.”
Confidence and strength are not something we need to build.
There is no effort required for confidence and strength.
Confidence and strength, where are they? Right here.
All these concepts about who we try to be, what we try to be
nothing is required other than utter relaxation;
that’s it, no matter what we’re trying to do.
If we want to be a doctor or whatever it is we’re trying to be,
it all comes down to being with another person
in this flash instant, right?
That’s all there is.
And in that flash instant, there is no separation anywhere.
And so, I would say this is the best advice I’ve ever received:
short moments.
There is such great tenderness in releasing everything
and just being totally present,
to be truly together.
The great wisdom of each moment is inseparable from the great responsibility of each moment;
this is of tremendous importance.
All the effort is over, it’s done, it’s completely gone.
The responsibility that is felt
in each moment, it is just so immense.
To release everything beyond the constraints of feeling
that we’re bound by being inside our skin.
Where did that idea ever come from?
“The Four Mainstays shine with non-symbolic communication
that cannot be brought about by words and actions.”
Just being together with each other
in a way that is completely non-symbolic,
we don’t have to think up something called the Four Mainstays.
It’s just the reality of how we live our life.
We’re always living the Four Mainstays, no matter what it is we think we’re up to.
The Four Mainstays are always present
in some form, in some shape.
This lifestyle brings greatly beneficial power to human society.
Making a decision about how we’re going to live our life,
actually selecting, electing a lifestyle,
instead of just having a lifestyle thrown upon us.
I didn’t really know I had a choice about a lifestyle,
but I do see the great choice today. I see it in all of you.
A choice of coming together, of saying:
“This is the way we’re going to live our life.
This is the way that life is going to be lived. It is going to be life of short moments,
it is not going to be a life of trying to accumulate something
and stuff it into an idea of who we are.”
It’s so simple, but at the same time so immense, isn’t it?
So simple, but so immense.
The whole process of the lifestyle
that you’ve committed yourself to,
there’s always going to be some kind of lifestyle being lived, like I said earlier.
There’s always some representation of the Four Mainstays lifestyle;
it’s going to be present in some form, whether it’s Swedish or American,
and we’re going to be living it in some way.
So it's, you could say, awareness, a conscious choice to live in a certain way.
And you’ve made that choice.
When you sit down and you write out the text or you write a value letter,
you’ve made a choice about how you’re going to spend your time in that moment.
It’s not going to be spent doing something else.
Just to be as we are, that’s all we have,
to be as we are, that is all we have,
whether we’re Swedish, American, Italian or whatever we are,
whatever we call ourselves.
Most of all, I would say that what Balanced View offers
is reassurance that it’s okay to be who we are.
That it’s just completely okay to be who we are,
all of the data streams going on, it’s just okay to be who we are
to allow that to open, open completely into beneficial energy,
that we don’t need to collapse into it being anything in particular.
All our trained beliefs are unnecessary.
When you stand up and we have a conversation here in the room,
it’s just this conversation; that is all there is.
We’re not flashing back to the moment of writing the value letter
or writing out the text.
It’s just coming together right here, and that’s it, naked.
It is very humbling, I feel, to really face reality
for Americans and Swedes!
It’s humbling for all of us to face reality
and to face that we are so utterly beneficial,
so totally beneficial that we have nothing else to present to the world.
The struggle is over.
And just the outshining brightness, it demands that it’s over.
When we come together here, we just reassure each other that it’s okay
to live the way we’re living.
Wouldn’t you say that’s it?
And when we go into our situation, whatever it is,
the way we live our daily life.
We get up in the morning and we have our wife or our husband or whatever it is,
we have our other family members.
But no matter what all the concepts are about what we have going on,
it all comes down to this moment.
That is really the only message of the text today
or anything that is ever uttered here.
There’s no trouble, there is no trouble.
