On The Beat.
Berlin Festival. Welcome to On The Beat,
I'm Sabine von Wegen. Today we're live
and in colour at the Berlin Festival
at the former airport area of Tempelhof.
Today, big names like Pet Shop Boys
and Blur are playing
and... Oh, hi, Neil! Neil!
That was Neil of Pet Shop Boys. Crazy.
This is Adi and DJ Terry Belle.
You just came out of Säule.
What did you do there?
We checked one last time
if the engine of the rocket is working.
So, is it working?
Yes, it does. We will launch after Blur.
I look forward to Blur.
We're happy, yay!
We mustn't film the stage. Crap.
We're at the backstage... ball now.
We probably mustn't film in there. Oh, we can?
Look who's here. How are you?
So you are, for those who don't know,
you're the founder and the boss
of the Berlin Festival,
at the end of the day. Right?
Yes, you could say that.
The Berlin Festival is more than a music festival,
it unites all the arts,
be it fashion, be it art, be it music,
and it's definitely our desire
to stimulate this exchange.
I really like the Art Village, to be honest.
The Church of Phonk is impressively big.
We're approaching the Art Village now.
We're hoping to meet Yaneq there.
There's a performance going on here.
This is Cookie. Cookie is retired, I think.
Right? Or are you...
Me, retired? Never.
Are you still doing clubs?
Sure. - Like what?
I still have Cookie's and Cookie's Cream.
Conny, you just got married, right?
Yes, it was an Art Village performance
and it was a great experience.
It was a lot of fun.
So you're saying you're not actually married.
At the Art Village I am, in a manner of speaking.
Ah, I can't remember, sorry.
I've never been good at singing,
that's why I don't sing.
What's that?
That's what I just sang.
That's a load of crap, seriously.
You just missed our mass.
I'm the high priest of the Church of Phonk.
This is about the Phonk.
We all stopped believing in Gods,
as the post-modern agnostics we are,
but when we dance and so on,
and all raise their hands at the same time,
those are spiritual moments.
It comes from your soul. Want a sip? It helps.
Sister, brother, we're all here and now...
I say Phonk, Phonk.
Atem is the exterior designer poet.
He wrote that title there.
Stohead is doing the writing,
the fresco on the ceiling is by Christoph Krönke,
and the inspiration was Leonardo da Vinci,
Sistine Chapel on acid.
We have modern saints in the windows.
Diversita, the patron saint of... Come along.
The patron saint of transgender and...
My oh my, right?
And threatened by those bullies, machos, nuns.
Look over here,
this is the other modern saint, St Redundus.
With an Aldi bag.
Collecting bottles, he's a pensioner
at the end of his tether.
The patron saint of bottle collectors.
What an eventful evening.
I hope you got something out of it.
We met some great people
and I'll see you next time On The Beat.
Cut, cut, cut.
We're at Party Arty Vol. 14. It's a party series
I've been doing for 10 years.

And I say Phonk.
