Welcome back.
From the outset GP2U set itself the goal of making Telehealth
an accessible reality for all Australians.
It didn't take us long to realise that there could be no substantial
Telehealth service unless Specialist doctors embraced the concept.
When we looked at how it could work in practice
it quickly became apparent that every variation from the way specialists
currently do things would be a barrier to uptake.
Our research indicated that specialists were unlikely to move
their base of operations to a dedicated video conferencing facility.
Thus was born the virtual waiting-room model
In our model a specialist conducts their practice as normal, from their own desk,
in their own office.
Patient's wait online,
logged into a suitable teleconferencing application, in what is really a private
virtual waiting room.
When the specialist is ready they initiate video conference to the waiting
patient
plucking them out of the virtual waiting room
and into their office
