Hello I'm Malaika
Today I'm going to show you how you can create tiny little braids without actually braiding your hair.
We're going to do that using the crochet technique.
We're going to use a crochet needle
And the hair we're going to use, is with this curl pattern
And it's from this package.
[ The base: braiding on the scalp]
This is the base we're going to use for the crochet technique.
You can see that hair at the front is braided neatly to the back.
On the back we've created a beehive.
All the braids we've have braided to the back have been collected and fashioned into a circle.
The tail that you see here is the left over of the circle.
In that we've attached fake hair.
This curly hair, we've attached it into the braid and this is the left over.
For the braids on the scalp we've used fake hair i.e. synthetic hair.
They usually cost about 1 euro a package in weave stores.
The reason why we attached fake hair is to make the structure more firm and solid
Now I'm going to show you what crochet really is.
[The technique: crochet step by step]
For the front we're going to use thin strands of hair, because we want to have the effect of tiny braids.
About this thin.
with your needle go underneath a scalp braid.
I'm going to start from the top.
Take your strand of hair and put it on the hook of the needle.
If you want you can close the hook of the needle with your fingernail.
Pull the strand of hair underneath the scalp braid and you'll have a loop.
Grab that loop and open it.
Pull the rest of the strand through the loop.
Grab the strand again and pull it through the loop
You can do this two or three times
I'm twisting my finger to have a firm grip
Now you have this
What we're going to do is pull the strand a bit so the loops move up.
You can use your fingers to push it up.
And there you have your crochet braid.
I'm going to do it again.
Cause as you can see the braid is not completely visable so we can pull the strand through the loop a couple of times more.
Take your needle
Put it close to the previous crochet braid, put the strand in the hook of the needle, close the needle
Pull it underneath the braid, grab the loop and pull the strand through it a couple of times
Push the loops up a bit with your fingers
See now you have a tiny little braid
Let's do this again
*** Repetetion of the process ***
We're almost done
The back where the beehive is, we've left more open spaces in between the crochet braids
We did this because the hair is already full
You will have to decide for yourself how full you want your style to be.
At the top we wanted it to be filled so we put the braids close to eachother
Use the type of hair that will give you the fullness of your desire
If you use a type of hair that doesn't get's a full effect quickly, then you will have to crochet the braids close to eachother
But with this hair we can easily allow spaces
I'm going to finish this up and then I'll show you the back
Now take a look at the back, if someone wants to make a a pony tail
All the braids are put closely together
Now we're going to finish this up.
[The end result]
