Hello, my name is Carlos Davila and I'm a personal trainer in New York City. In this
clip, we're going to go over various push up drills for overall conditioning. One of
the oldest, and most useful exercises for building upper body strength, is the push
up. I mean, think about the push up: you're using your chest muscles, using back muscles,
you're using your arm muscles. So you go from a simple push up, where your hands are flat,
chest is across your hands, and you're up and down, to something a bit more creative,
where you're on your fingertips increasing the strength in your hands. If you want to
get a little bit more creative, you got knuckle push ups. Want to get even a little bit more
creative? You got triangle push ups. Want to get a little bit more explosive? Clap push
ups. If you want to add a little bit more intensity to the work out, you can take a
band, wrap it around your hands and you're working your shoulders a lot more with these
push ups. Bring it in, make it a little bit more dynamic. So again, taking something as
simple as a push up, you can continually progress it and make it a little, lot, a little bit
more difficult in order to increase the effectiveness of the work out. This is Carlos Davila, personal
trainer, New York City.
