Today on our 2010 Mazda 5, were going to be installing Draw-Tite Hitch, part number 24773.
Before we get started with our installation, were going to go over a couple of measurements
that will come in handy when selecting accessories for your hitch, like a bike rack or a cargo
carrier. From the ground to the inside-top of our receiver tube it measures 12-1/2 inches
of hitch height. From the center of our hitch pinhole to the furthest point of our bumper
measures 3-1/2 inches. Now, lets get started with our install. The first thing we need
to do is to locate our pre-existing holes in our bumper structure.
Were going to need to enlarge this with the 1/2 inch drill bit. This is our block with
our square hole, and well be fitting that into the bumper tube followed by our carriage
bolt thats going to fit into our block. Next, we need to fish our bolts and blocks into
the bumper structure. Well take our fish wire, push it out through the newly opened hole
and out the end of bumper structure. Well fit the block over the end of our fish wire
and push
it into
the bumper.
