Hi, I'm Terry with Consumer Cellular.
Thank you and congratulations on the purchase of your
new Nokia E5 with MCS, Mobile Caption Service.
The Nokia E5 is a sophisticated and versatile phone.
It's hearing aid compatible, it has an easy-to-read screen
and a long battery life and best of all,
it includes Mobile Caption Service.
What is MCS or Mobile Caption Service?
It's a phone captioning service for
deaf or hard-of-hearing cell phone users.
It's a free service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
for qualified Consumer Cellular customers.
Now, how does MCS work?
It automatically connects to the relay service
for your state.
A communications assistant or CA listens in
and types captions. Captions are sent directly
to your cell phone.
At all times your privacy is protected by FCC regulations.
To recap, MCS enables you to speak, read and listen
on your cell phone.
Now, let me show you your new Nokia E5 phone.
Up here, this is your display screen, this is where all
of your icons will be displayed.
These are your Select keys. Right above the silver bar
and just above this silver bar, those are your Soft keys
and they will select functions on the screen.
This is your Home key and this will go directly to your
main menu and this is your Messaging key
and this will go directly to your messaging function
and your texting function.
The green key right here, this is going to be your Answer key.
You'll press that to answer a call and you'll also press it
when you want to send a call.
And this is your On/Off button or your Power key.
Now, this--you'll press this to end the phone call,
you'll press it and hold it if you wanna power up
or power down your cell phone.
Now, right in the middle here, these are your Navigation keys.
And this one in the center, this is
your Navigation Select key.
You'll use these to scroll around the screen
and highlight different icons.
Now, you press up to scroll up, you'll press the bottom
to scroll down, right or left and when you've highlighted
the item that you want then you'll press the center button
and that will select that icon.
Now, the lower third, this is your alphanumeric keypad
and you'll use this for texting or dialing numbers.
Now, let's look at the rest of your Nokia E5 phone.
Now, right here on top there are three ports.
Now, I'm going to open this one, this is the mini USB port
right there.
Now, this has a dust cover on it.
You'll use this port when you're connecting to computers
or other such devices.
I'm gonna put the dust cover back because we wanna make sure
that nothing gets into that little port.
This larger hole, this is where you'll connect the headset
and this smaller hole, this is where you'll plug
in your recharger.
Now, on the back of the phone, this is your camera and that
right there is the flash for the camera.
This is the speaker, when you put your phone
on speaker phone.
Now, right on the side, right here you'll notice there's
a little rocker button.
Now, this increases or decreases the volume
of the phone whether you're on a phone call or
listening to music.
Now, you'll notice there's a little button right here also.
This releases the back panel of the phone.
There's also a second button on this side, you have to press
them both together to release the back of the phone.
Let me show you the E5 phone's keypad.
Now, this is a standard alphanumeric keypad for both
texting and dialing numbers but there are a couple
of special keys that I'd like to point out.
In this corner right here, this is the Function key.
Right next to it is the Shift key and then the Symbol key.
Now, on the other side right there you can see that's
the Backspace key, the Enter key and in the lower corner,
that is the Control key.
Now, to unlock or lock your keypad you'll use
the Soft keys.
Now, those are the keys that are directly above these little
silver bars.
You press those in rapid succession and that will either
lock or unlock your keypad.
Now, let's turn on the phone.
Let's talk about the Main menu.
Now, I'm going to press this key right here, that takes me
to my Main menu and I'm going to use the Navigation key
to scroll.
Now, I'm just going to quickly go through these icons.
If you need more information, we'll talk about that
in a second but first you have your Calendar,
you have your Contacts, you have your Call Log,
you have Maps, this is your Messaging Service.
You have your Internet Media, Store, Control Panel, Office,
Help and Applications.
Now, your Nokia E5 is preset to accept captions
but if you're sharing the phone you may want
to disable the caption function.
To turn captions on or off you simply go to the MCC logo
and I use the Select key directly underneath of it,
I press that and then it says, "Options".
I'm going to press the Soft key again.
Now, it gives me this menu, I'm going to scroll down and there
it says, "Turn on or off captions."
I'm going to press, Select.
Now, as a safety feature it's going to ask me if I really
want to turn on or off the captions.
I'm going to say no, I don't really want to turn them off so
I'm gonna press right there where it says no, I'm gonna
press the Soft key directly underneath of it and it's gonna
bring me back to this screen and there it says, "Exit."
I'm going to exit back to my Home screen.
Now, if I wanna go to my Main menu and I'm back.
Now, I'd like to remind you of some of the key benefits
of the MCS or Mobile Caption Service.
You can see and read every word in real time with
a slight delay for typing.
You can place and receive calls while on the go.
Callers get to hear your voice.
You can retrieve Voicemail via captioning quite easily.
You can make text bigger or smaller to see the words better
and your privacy is guaranteed by FCC regulations.
