Imagine being a leader in an industry that most would consider staid,
and many businesses might not appreciate the benefits of better management.
I'm talking about pallets, and today,
Tim Arnold from Premiere Pallets,
is going to talk about advances, technological advances,
as well as the difference better management can make, on your bottom line.
Tim, can you help these businesses make better choices?
We can. Oftentimes, we go into a business,
and we look at the pallets that they're actually using,
and by taking careful measurements of the pallets that they're using,
we can also, we subscribe to a program
that helps us identify the weaknesses and strengths of a pallet,
whereas, we can just shave a sixteenth off of a board,
and still provide the same dynamic strength of a pallet, that we're getting.
If it even saves 'em a nickel per pallet, over a hundred thousand pallets,
that's a substantial amount of money.
Wow. Many of us don't realize, and often,
we're chasing the dollars, but how true it is,
that they say sometimes it's just a few cents that will make a difference.
And obviously have understanding not only the technological advances in the material,
but but companies are facing the choices of leasing, recycling, buying,
and, of course, that's also part of your service
that you can help them better manage this asset inside their company
that can cost them a lot of money, either way.
So, can you talk a little bit about some of those choices
that you help the companies make?
We can. Sometimes, it will make more sense to,
have a pallet management program, which will be repair;
a brand-new pallet that gets repaired three or four times,
and then, put back into our recycling system,
and then refreshing that with a brand-new pallet,
instead of buying a new pallet every, every time.
Or, maybe sometimes, a used pallet will work better over a new pallet,
instead of just getting a new pallet,
you can re-use an older pallet that will have the same strength as the new one.
There's even sometimes a lower grade of a used pallet
that does just the same amount of work as a higher grade of a new pallet.
And it all depends on one of those questions
we would ask the end user: where is this going?
If it's going into certain DCs, or warehouse clubs,
they require a certain grade of pallet,
that might cost the customer more money on one side,
but will save them more money on having pallet failures,
or being charged extra by the DCs for sending in the wrong pallet.
There's just many different ways to find hidden money,
like I said earlier, it's the pennies that make a difference in this industry.
Absolutely. And, you know, it's nice to know that the company with your expertise,
is able to help businesses understand
so the next time you're putting your pallet order in,
maybe it's time to take a look at that,
as business becomes far more complex,
and we tend to lose sight of some of those pennies
that can add up to many, many dollars at the end of the day.
