Instructions for using the Brella Vaginal Retractor
The Brella Vaginal Retractor is a single-use,
latex-free device with built-in LED light
designed to provide optimal visualization and access
during repair of the perineum and vaginal walls.
Inspect the package.
Do not use the device if its package is open, damaged, or past the expiration date.
Peel open the device's packaging from the corner marked "PEEL TO OPEN".
Handle the retractor using sterile technique.
Insert the retractor into the *** with the speculum end first.
Gradually insert the retractor until the flared proximal wings provide maximum support to the ***.
Open the device by gently spreading the wings outward.
The light will turn on automatically,
and the ratchet mechanism will maintain the angle of retraction.
The position of the device can be adjusted using the thumb paddle.
Tension can be adjusted while pressing the release trigger.
To remove the device,
first apply pressure to the release trigger until the wings are fully closed.
The light will turn off automatically.
Carefully remove the retractor from the patient
and inspect to ensure that all parts are intact.

Dispose of the device properly following standard biohazard procedures.
