Ngawai Herewini is known for her work in broadcasting in Northland.
Now she has put her hand up for a seat
on the Far North District Council at the next regional election.
She's really passionate about fresh water.
Our rivers are in a real state.
There's real problems there.
Our rivers are our life stream, where is that?
She can be heard on the radio Te Hiku o Te Ika.
Now, she's running for a seat on the Far North District Council.
There seems to be a lot of Maori running for council
than in previous years. This is a start
The Northland district is vast.
There's 3 wards, 9 councillors, and the Mayor makes it 10.
Ngawai has worked in broadcasting for many years now.
She does a lot of work within Maori education,
and she's been also been on TV.
I work with our marae, in kura kaupapa,
and promoting our language within our community.
Votes must be in by the 9th of October.
However, Ngawai has just one thing to say.
You need to return those papers.
Choose the person you support and return those papers
to make your vote count. Anzac Pikia, Te Karere.
