Hi! I’m Michelle Bechtold, LMA, National Trainer with Therapon Skin Health. The UVA
ray is actually the long ray that can penetrate very deeply within the skin and can actually
cause severe deterioration. And it can lead to skin cancer, whereas the UVB ray is the
short ray and it does penetrate the skin but it only penetrates very shallow it does affect
the melanocyte layer where our pigment cells are so it does cause the color within the
skin but it doesn’t usually cause the significant damage that UVA rays can. So it’s most important
to have a UVA and UVB block. It’s very important to make sure you’re getting broad spectrum
coverage. And that’s generally how it’s listed in your products. It will say full
spectrum or broad spectrum coverage. And again, your zinc oxide ingredient is the best to
look for as it does cover against both the UVA and UVB.
