Today I'm going to show you one of my favorite
places, the city of Rapture.
0:00:19.066,0:00:25.066
I wish I could tell you Rapture was a real place,
but it exists only in the video games Bioshock and
Bioshock 2.

It is a massive underwater city built in the late
1940s at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean.

What makes Rapture so beautiful to look at is the
Art Deco styled buildings, which are connected
by reinforced glass tunnels.

Every window looks out onto an array of sea
creatures, lit up by neon signs.

Of course, by the time your character in the
game discovers Rapture, it has fallen into ruins,
0:00:49.033,0:00:53.033
and we only see an eerie shadow of what the
place once was.
0:00:53.033,0:00:56.000
But that, of course, is part of the appeal.

Wandering through the maze of dilapitated yet
beautiful rooms ignites the imagination.
