Hi, This is Elise McMann for ExpertVillage.com and in this video series were talking about
teaching a Relaible Recall to your dog. If you would like to find out more about my services
you can visit my website at http//:www.canineheadstart.com. So, in this short clip were going to be talking
about "Training a behavioral marker". We're going to have Sue demonstrate this with her
dog "Teddy" and just before we start I want to let you know that you can have a number
of different behavioral markers you can use a mechanical one which a clicker or you can
use a verbal one and generally people use the word "Yes". In Teddys' case were' going
to use a verbal marker because he doesn't like the sound of the clicker, we think that
it is probably having to do with his association of that with his training with an electric
fence. In any case, we are going to use a verbal markerhave Sue and Teddy demonstrate
how to train the verbal marker. (Sue repeats the word "yes" 9 times to Teddy and tells
Teddy good boy!). Good! so, Teddy has picked up on the idea that when he hears that word
"yes" it means that it's a reliable predictor of a treat coming.
