I'm Don Varney of Varney Speaks and on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to talk
about the interview process. The other thing is cologne and perfumes. There are people
that have to be interviewers that have allergies. This was something that I heard a horror story
about this. A man came in, he was wearing cologne. Evidently, he really liked it and
it was a very powerful cologne. The problem was the interviewer had an allergy to colognes
and perfumes. They just happen to have one. It would always make their eyes water, itch,
and it was just kind of uncomfortable for them. When I was chatting with that interviewer,
he said I wish people would just not wear colognes or perfumes period, because it just
makes my life easier and I've got to believe there's other interviews just like me. If
I'm interviewing 20-30 people a day and it smells like you're at the perfume bar at Saks
fifth avenue, after a while, it's going to get pretty tough in your office. As a professional
courtesy, when you walk in, be non-descript in the aroma that you carry. Just don't wear
perfume or a cologne.
