So Be. is a social change campaign
and it's around inspiring and enabling a 100% accessible world.
so at it's heart it is a social change campaign
and there are a whole lot of programmes that we're running from it.
The Leadership programme, that focuses on developing the self I guess
of people living with a disability in particular
We've got an assessment toolkit called Be. welcome
which is aimed at business or any organisation actually
in terms of how do they start to think about
making their marketing, their customer service, their goods and services
their everything, accessible for all people.
So who is involved in that? Because I saw the website and
I thought that's bloody fantastic
So who's involved, our founding partners were
Auckland Council, Auckland District Health Board, and Auckland University of Technology
so it began in Auckland.
But we then as of about 2 months ago, received
significant Government funding to be able to go nationwide
because that was the thing, we didn't just want to live in Auckland
There is so much life beyond the Bombay hills!
My goodness, the biodiversity is incredible!
I just saw that word over there so I had to use it.
And, but because we saw opportunities to actually roll this out
leading into Rugby World Cup, we're starting with
the 12 host cities. And it works well for us as well
because otherwise we'd be like, 'Where do you begin?'
But now you're chewing it off one bite at a time.
That's it! But it's kind of like, each of those cities will have visitors
coming to them. Yeah, access requirements
And so how can we start meeting the needs of those people
and locals as well but then actually build on that
So it's just a starting point.
Yeah and I keep saying, it's to get the ball rolling
And everyone laughs when I say that, that's a rugby joke.
