I think one of the most important things they can take away,
from this is that it's a beyond the headlines look.
A lot of the issues we're covering, people may already be aware of,
they've seen them in the newspaper, they heard a five minute article,
on the news.
But, this is a much deeper and human story
that these films are telling.
So rather then just see it on screen
and walk out of the cinema, people
are going to be talking about it as they leave the cinema.
They're going to be going home that night wanting to tell people about it,
and the next morning when you wake up, these films will stick with you,
because you can't shake them.
Whereas a lot of films are about escaping the real world,
these films make the world more real and issues more urgent and pressing.
I think TIFF as an organization has always said, we want to change the
way people see the world through film, and there's no films that do that
better than these nine films.
