This animation illustrates the process of a flat bed screen machine printing a three
color design onto open-width fabric. As is illustrated, the fabric is glued onto the
rotating continuous rubber blanket, and carried under the print screens which are in the raised
position. The fabric stops, the harness lowers the screens into the printing position, and
a rolling steel bar squeegee moves across each screen pushing print paste through the
open design areas. Then the harness raises the screens, and the fabric is moved to the
next color screen. For this three color pattern, the process is repeated three times. The open-width
printed fabric is then removed from the rubber blanket and dried prior to color fixation.
Notice that all screens print simultaneously. This maximizes the productivity of this method.
