[music] Hello, I’m Dr. Neal Schultz
[pause]
and welcome to DermTV.
Excessive underarm sweating can be a terribly annoying problem, and I’m
talking about the type of perspiration that, despite the use of regular
antiperspirants, causes people to change their clothes, one, two or even
five times a day. Fortunately, there’s help for this problem. If you see
your doctor, he or she can give you a prescription for a topical, super-
duper, extra-charged antiperspirant called Drysol. It’s a liquid that’s
applied under the arms, at bedtime, after you’ve washed the area and patted
it dry, and it’s applied once a week under the occlusion of plastic food
wrap like saran wrap. It starts to work within a week’s time and then with
just weekly re-applications, can significantly reduce the amount of
perspiration. But if that doesn’t work, there’s still a solution. Botox,
the same Botox that we use for facial lines and wrinkles, is the answer. A
series of slightly unpleasant injections under each arm, about 25
injections, will stop sweating. In 3-7 days, the sweating will stop, the
improvement will last 3-6 months. It’s a little bit pricey, it can cost
$1,000 or more, but it works every time. So if excessive underarm sweating
is a real quality of life problem for you, see your dermatologist because
you can get relief from this terribly annoying problem.
