Hi, I’m Chris Tavano for Tundra Restaurant Supply.
In today’s episode, I’m going to do the daily maintenance and cleansing
For your Roundup Variety Steamer.
The first thing you’re going to want to do
Is be sure that your unit is unplugged and in the off position.
From there, you’re going to want the unit to cool completely
Before you start touching it as it’s still going to be quite hot to the touch.
Next, you’re going to remove your steam baskets.
From there, you’re going to remove the housing assembly cover itself,
And also disconnect the drip tray from your water line.
Now, we should have only exposed the cast iron steam manifold.
From here, you’re going to unlock the locking lever.
The manifold should lift right out of place.
Next, you’re going to want to remove the diffuser plate.
It just pulls right out.
Then, it exposes the spray tube itself.
A little plastic piece, it just pulls right out.
Then, last but not least you can remove the o-ring.
Once you have the manifold and spray tube removed,
It’s going to be very important that we clean out the jets.
And on the manifold, be sure that we clean out all these jets properly.
Once you have unclogged your spray jets,
You’re going to want to wash both of these pieces in hot soapy water,
Rinse them, and then allow them to air-dry before reassembling your Round Up variety
steamer.
Before you replace your o-ring,
You’re going to want to get your Petro-Gel lubricant.
Dab a little smear on your finger and just rub it thoroughly around the o-ring
Until there’s a good solid amount of grease all the way around.
From there, it just drops right back into place.
Next, you’re going to get your clean spray tube, and it should just slide right back
in.
From there, you’re going to put your diffuser plate back over it.
From there, we’ve got our steam manifold.
Just lock it right back into place and don’t forget to lock the lever.
From there, put the drip tray back on, the housing cover and your two vegetable baskets.
Here are some common troubleshooting tips for your Roundup Variety Steamer.
Oftentimes, you’ll notice that maybe your vegetables aren’t steaming in time
Or not getting thoroughly cooked all the way through.
Two ways that could be is that your jets for your steam are getting clogged and they’re
not being cleaned thoroughly enough.
Second, it could be that your o-ring is split and that needs to be replaced.
A good way to tell is if you can see the black manifold from the base of the unit itself.
There’s one seam where you might see steam leaking out of.
It’s okay to see steam coming out of all these other seams,
But if you see it out of specifically the seam between the metal and the black cast
iron
That’s when you know you have a split o-ring.
