Hi I'm Kelly Forshaw, with Red Touch Media, here at The Anfield Wrap, and I am talking to Ned
Mannoun who is the Mayor of Liverpool City in Sydney. How Are You Ned? I'm great, and
you Kelly? I'm Great, are you having a good night? It's lovely, all the Liverpool supporters,
all the passion, it's great to see. now you've made an announcement about a very exciting
project which you are obviously coordinating, so tell us about it. In Liverpool, we are
the home of football in Australia, but the thing is we don't actually have a sporting
team. So what we announced today is we want to have our own Liverpool FC, right here in
Liverpool, where everyone in Australia can sit here and enjoy it and we can show them
that we are Liverpool just like in England. We are just as passionate about football and
we have all the future stars here. So what's the plan? I think the first thing is talking
about it but, you know, this is a dream and people cannot be scared of dreaming. So I've
got this dream, we all have this dream that we want to achieve, Craig Johnston has had
this dream for a long time. So it's about getting everyone to say you know what that
is a good idea. WE want a dream, it will be great, we want to see people like Craig Johnston
out here and see all the old Liverpool players and some of the other Liverpool players that
are maybe coming to the end of their careers or maybe who are injured and can't get back
into the top side. Maybe the come here and play, it's something Liverpool cannot do anywhere
else in the world but they can do it here in Liverpool in Sydney in Australia. And I
think the way the media, the way that the technology is at the moment, the world is
a much smaller place so it's easier for people to connect with each other from the other
side of the world. Which is shown with The Anfield Wrap obviously. Indeed, and it's wonderful
that The Anfield Wrap has come out here and yourselves as sponsors, you know, getting
this event going on and it shows, we are connected because what that kind of activity does, it
means that everyone in the world, there's Liverpool, there is supporters. My family
live in Zambia, and it hit me how big Liverpool is when I was in Zambia, 8 years ago. They
are all jumping up, putting up the Liverpool jerseys and going crazy. And that's in Zambia,
in the middle of nowhere. Yeah, it's crazy. Well good luck with it all. Thank you and
enjoy your stay in Australia. Sorry we couldn't put any beach weather for you but maybe next
time. My name is Ned Mannoun and I'm the Mayor of Liverpool City in New South Wales, Australia
and I'm with Red Touch Media.
