I set my hair differently this time um what I often do is I shampoo my hair, condition
it, then I add a leave in conditioner, a natural styling gel. Then I put my hair in braids
and then I put shea butter on the ends of my hair. Wait for my hair to dry. Take the
braids out. Then add more shea butter throughout all of my hair and then oils as well. So um
this time, instead of the styling gel, like..I put the leave in conditioner in and then instead
of putting styling gel I put a thin coat of shea butter throughout all of my hair, not
just on my ends but throughout all of my hair and then I didn't put any styling gel. So
I normally wouldn't do that because it would make it take..I feel like it already takes
so long for my hair to dry that it would add more time to the drying process. But I just
decided to put a thin coat, just even distribute a thin coat and that was okay that worked
out. Um, and I ended up with good curl definition my curls clumped together nicely um a good
amount of weight to my hair. I like a lot of product, I go heavy with oils and butters
and leave in conditioner. ...curls are separated a lot I separated them yesterday I was you
know playing around with hairstyles and separating a lot of the curls but they actually set together
quite well. It has been several days since I washed it. One of the differences that I
notice, one of the main differences with styling gel, I feel like it holds my curls, really
accentuates my curls and hold them even after I add oils and butters like you know when
my hair is dry I add more to it. It still tends to retain that very curly look. Here
my curls are still there but they are elongated. And that could possibly have something to
do with the apricot oil. I've been using apricot oil mostly um and apricot oil is very slippery.
I feel like it is very similar to jojoba oil where it is kind of a light oil that gives
a lot of shine and uh I feel like it's a lightweight oil. Very slippery uh very shiny and nice.
I have been using it on my body, my face, and my hair. I will continue to use apricot
oil in addition to the other oils that I use and also I'll do this setting method in the
future along with using styling gel sometimes. So um, I will alternate, I will sometimes
set my hair this way, and sometimes set it with styling gel. So with the oil, with just
the shea butter and then adding oils and stuff I notice that the curls are very elongated
and I know that that happens naturally as my hair gets longer. The shorter my hair is
the smaller the curls are and as my hair gets longer and longer, my hair gets heavier, the
curls are more continuous, they continue on because of the length, and they are also heavier
um and so the curls elongate. So taht is what is happening and it is quite apparent, um
more so when I don't use styling gel. I do like this setting you know, the result and
I also like using styling gel so I'll be using both uh both methods.
Here is a close up of how slippery my hair is with the apricot oil in it.
I kind of um, took out...because I really like to keep it defined and flat 'cause I
have been wearing my hair up a lot and just focusing on keeping it all together and organized
and everything. But here my hair is loose but it is so slippery from the apricot oil
that... Just wanted to show..show. I still have a
lot of definition here like i have um..you know the shorter my hair is, the smaller the
curls are so as it gets longer I notice the curls elongating. But yeah. yeah it's almost
time to wash again so I will probably wash tomorrow like in the afternoon, so, yeah.
