German YouTube Star "funnypilgrim" attending a language course abroad
Hello everybody, my name is Mira aka funnypilgrim,
which is also the name of my YouTube channel.
I am in Barcelona in the partner school of StudyGlobal.
This is actually the classroom and I just finished class.
I was here for four days and will tell you what I have learned so far.
How did you like the Spanish language course?
Well, I liked it a lot. The best part the teacher was really nice.
We had a small group of students, which was good.
This way you are able to understand the lectures a lot better.
When I got into class all student were one week ahead,
which was a bit problematic in the beginning.
But now at the end of my course I can say that it was great.
What do you think of Barcelona as a destination for language courses abroad?
Well I like the city a lot. Citizens do not speak that much English,
which "forces" you to speak and learn Spanish.
But which has of course a positive aspect for learning.
In my opinion a good city to learn the language.
Do you think following the Total Immersion Principle is the better learning technique?
Yes, I definitely think that learning abroad is better than
just taking language classes at home in one's home country.
Like I mentioned before, you are "forced" to speak.
You are surrounded by natives
and thus you get in to the language much faster.
In the beginning you maybe won't understand a word.
but you will pick it up really fast, as you hear words repeatedly
and thus can memorize them better.
Do you like the Spanish life?
Spanish life - well I can identify myself with it for sure.
I share the same "mañana, mañana" attitude.
I am very casual with things and prefer to start the day later.
I think it's cool but you have to like it of course.
Some people may have problems with this attitude.
Especially if they are very punctual and on time.
Spaniards eat very late. Well it is kind of cool
because there's always something going at night.
You don't have to be affraid to walk alone at night.
There are always lots of people on the streets.
Yes, I like it a lot.
Could you pursue a hobby?
Well, for the Beauty & Fashion fans like me
you can find a lot of shops.
You have the huge Spanish chains, which are cool.
There are lots of shopping miles and malls.
A huge variety of cosemtic shops. So you get the point.
You can definitely find a lot to spend your money on
if you want to.
What do you think about Barcelona's beach?
Well, gernerally spoken it is great to have a beach.
You have a big city, where you can learn something
and then if you're in the mood for it you can go to the beach.
It's good to have this option.
But note the beach is quite packed with tourists.
It's hard to find a perfect spot, which is the downside.
But it depends on one's preferences.
You whether like it or not.
I found it a bit coolish and windy. And the water was cold.
But this can be a good refreshment in the blazing sun.
How can you organize your leisure time in Barcelona?
Well you can do and discover a lot here.
We did a city bike tour on our own
to all the sightseeing spots of Barcelona.
This way you travel faster.
I'd definitely recommand to do that!
You don't have to walk and you won't get any foot ache.
But still you get to see a lot.
Yeah, you travel faster than on foot and there's no crowd.
So definitely do that when you're here!
What else, yeah there's plenty to do here.
Anything else you would like to say?
I liked it very much here.
I guess I will come back to Barcelona again.
There is always something new that can be discovered.
It is not done within a day or a week.
Well, thank you very much for watching.
I hope you liked the video.
Maybe now you are interested in visiting Barcelona
and learning Spanish?!
See you. Bye.
