In this video I’ll show you how you can use a lavalier microphone, also known as a
lapel mic, with your phone. You’ll need a phone, ipod touch, ipad or similar device,
a lav mic and a five dollar adapter from eBay. The link to the mic and adapter I’m using
in this video is in the video description. Some microphones come with a battery and some
don’t. The ones that don’t require phantom power from the recording device. You can use
this type of mic, but you’ll need a more expensive adapter, also linked below this
video. I have the Audio Technica ATR-3350 and it comes with its own power supply. This
adapter simply puts the microphone on the fourth pin, which is the layout of most phones.
It also allows you to put headphones in, which is nice for monitoring levels. Now, you can
clip the mic onto your shirt, or under it in this case, and slip the phone into your
pocket for a handy audio recorder. The links to everything I mentioned in this video are
below in the description and thanks for watching.
