I have several friends who are orthopaedic physicians
and I asked them whom would you suggest if you were going to have a back done?
And one of them had Dr. Miller do his back
and the other one said "Dr. Miller".
Dr. Scott Miller is the emnity you want in a surgeon
He's serious, he's well-trained
he's well-experienced, and he treats the patient with a kind of care
All of us are looking for that
He also is a very good listener to the patient
he wants to know, tell me your symptoms, tell me your problems
and he goes from there with it.
He's not looking to give you a surgery thing right away
he may see if you can do something else that might cure it
if it doesn't and if surgery's the last resort
he's the man to go to.
So in the beginning, he suffered from rather advanced arthritis
and multi-level stenosis, which is a condition not infrequent
I think that his main troubles were that of even simple activities
walking, standing, moving around, normal activities
After his initial surgery, and each subsequent procedure,
he did really well
The first surgery was his largest procedure over multiple levels
performing what's called a decompression operation
The subsequent procedures were mainly at the top and bottom
of the low back
not infrequently seen where patients develop recurrent problems
Overall, I think he's done fantastically well
he can move around, he can play golf
he can do things comfortably
whereas before surgery he couldn't do any of those things.
