All right, stick grip. Now this is another important aspect of the beginning to getting
your sound that you really want. Now, stick grip, let's talk a little bit about stick
grip on the ride symbol. Now there's a style called French grip, which is thumbs up. And
if you're on the ride, you should have your thumbs up. All right, and now if you're on
the snare, and you're coming out of the ride maybe to do a fill, you want to just slide
your palm over and go to American grip, which is kind of your palms are down. So, that grip
would be like this.
With your palms down. And the hi hat would be almost--it's in between French, which is
thumbs up, and American, which is thumbs down. It's somewhere along those lines, right around
here. See how my thumb's a little bit up, but my palms are halfway down. It's right
in between. And now, one more thing for going around the drums. You usually want to be palms
down, going all around, all around the drums. That's more of an American style.
